I'm looking to resume chargeback proceedings and, as part of that, want to request a refund. However, I don't want to go to RSI lest I trigger the new TOS. Anyone have an email link to customer service? Otherwise, I'm going to email the card company and try to explain these ToS. Also, gently caress CIG and al the management who work there, especially the legal team.

Meanwhile at the Frontier forums, a deep-cover MoMA-model operative has woken up from cryogenic sleep to grace them with his opinions about the TOSquote:I couldn't care less about the ToS as long as SQ42 and SC are delivered with at least half of the features and content promised. And they seem to be coming along nicely. It should be obvious by now that if you buy a PLEDGE, you're not really eligible for refunds by definition alone. quote:They're making progress on all fronts. quote:I made an investment, as everyone who pledged knowingly did if they read any of the titles on the pages. It's really not that different from any other game you buy. You buy it and play it, you don't get to refund it. Period. quote:Same thing as pledging. No need to argue semantics when you understand precisely what I mean. No. You're not. You're literally pledging your money. Thus it's an investment more than anything, and you're not eligible for refund. When they're dealing with 1+ million people who pledge this is the best they could do it in the event that the project failed. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Squadron-42-Standalone-Pledge quote:I don't know. Development is an iterative process and unexpected obstacles sometimes appear. They did not expect procedural planets to become available until after release yet here it is. Much like No Man's Sky and Engineers got delayed by 2-3 months one must also concede that this may happen to SQ42 as well. It's just the nature of game development. My guess would be Q4 2016 or Q1 2017. I have tried it out but I don't spend too much time on the alpha:s since I know they are just test beds for fixing bugs and showcasing pledge ships before they start opening up the star systems. Except that's an extremely unlikely scenario and more of a slippery slope fallacy. The Idris is practically done as well so try something else. quote:Money doesn't translate directly into a better game. Just ask Frontier with their $100+ million market cap Anyway, when you have extremely complex physics grids to deal with, yes, you can expect a lot more bugs to deal with, especially in the alpha-version of the game. Why is this even controversial when it's true for most alphas? quote:The first 1-2 years of SC can barely be considered effective development with just a skeleton dev team. And again. Inf Battlescape is ships only and has very simple flight mechanics. So they're not comparable. No need to bring it up. I take it then you aren't too familiar with Steam early access titles that are often just as broken. Line of Defense being a hilarious example... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7n29gEV18w Etc, etc, somehow he (Jon93) just became a really prolific poster.

Streetroller posted:I think Derek is definitely motivated by hatred, or just likes watching the world burn. I imagine him using a magnifying glass to light up ant hills and laughing maniacally when he's not online. Not to speak for him but I believe Derek was contacted by some developers who had concerns about how the staff were treated, how the money was being spent and the possibility of the game coming out as pitched. The way I remember it he tried to contact Chris Roberts a couple of different ways, got nothing then wrote a blog to make his opinion clear and one of the first reveals he made was that Star Marine was cancelled (nobody believed him on that for the 6 months until Chris Roberts was forced to bitterly admit it). For that he had his money forcibly refunded and had some "game developer" who's previously claim to fame was being a hardcore wing commander nut and used to work in school trash talk him. Plus lets not forget a rabid community of nutters were given a green light to go after him both personally and professionally That, I think, understandably pissed him off and given what's happened since and how he seems to have been proved right about pretty much everything (he seems to have/had source/s feeding him internal gossip so I personally don't expect him to be right about everything) I can well imagine he's going to fully enjoy the end times. Let's not forget CIG made this pledge and CIG updated the TOS yesterday, in which they force everyone who visits the forums or patches the janky pile of poo poo they call a "game" to agree to, that basically says they can do whatever they like and you'll loving like it. Derek Smart got a lot of people refunds and if he goes absolutely nuts at times I think he gets a pass just for having the guts to stand up in the first place. Shitizens are the insane guys making threats and tweeting Derek hundreds of times after he's blocked them on twitter, spewing bile on r/derek smart, Citizens are the normal backers still foolishly expecting some sort of reasonable game out of this mess.
