Jeza posted:"this will ruin the site's whole integrity if it gets out" Well, I mean he's kinda right. If the rolls are indeed locked in, this has no effect on anyone other than him basically giving away free money. Instead of paying moe $X, he can give him free money to gamble with, tell him some rolls, and basically give him the same amount of money AND have the site look like a winner on stream. It's not even all that bad. I don't gamble, but I have used CSGODiamonds to tradeup. I deposited two skins and bought one from their marketplace with it. It was way easier than dealing with possibly shady people. EvilBeard fucked around with this message at 01:32 on Jun 14, 2016 |

These community FFA servers just don't seem like they're worth it. I'll hop on and it's literally stand in one spot and wait for someone to peek. It teaches you nothing about moving across the map because you're stuck since you'll end up doing constant 180s trying to get whomever spawned behind you. I feel like the team deathmach one slightly better but even then.... gently caress, Valve's Deathmatch is better thought-out - it's just that it's too easy to do well there. Deathmatch as I know it (Quake) was spawn, collect items, and work the map. This instagib bullshit is worthless besides just getting the twitch on someone; which is actually pretty easy. Working the map, understanding sightlines, etc is harder and more important. If I want to practice I feel like I have to actually do aim_botz and just stick to that. I swear that map is the best for ugprading your aim over the course of a few weeks than this FFA bullshit. Only difference is the bots don't shoot back, but with how these servers are laid out - it doesn't matter.

you shouldn't be stuck in deathmatch or holding angles, you should pretty much be holding down W until you meet someone then stutter and headshot them, rinse and repeat every time you inevitably get shot in the back it sounds like you'd maybe like 1v1 arena servers better, there you are at least guaranteed a fair fight every round e: imo the main point of dm is just to get in as many engagements as possible within the shortest possible period of time Bohemian Nights fucked around with this message at 02:56 on Jun 14, 2016 |

It teaches you nothing about moving across the map because you're stuck since you'll end up doing constant 180s trying to get whomever spawned behind you. Two things: 1) Without meaning this in a dickish way, it's frustrating because you're not good enough for community DM yet. 2) Yes there are multiple things to practice beyond just aiming for CSGO, and DM only helps you with a small slice, and you should definitely not expect DM to make you good at the game as a whole The best way to get good at CS, is to play CS. Not to play Deathmatch. It sounds like you're expecting different things from it than what it should be used for. E: If you really want to kill people without worrying about the objective too much, just play casual. It gives you a better feel for maps, although you do have to wait for the next round to respawn. surc fucked around with this message at 03:41 on Jun 14, 2016 |

I wouldnt be surprised if renegades left esports entirely after what happened to them in league of legends. C9 should cannibalize the good parts of clgs roster and clg should sign a new team or leave csgo, they've made 0 good moves and would have never got a team in the first place if it were not for the Ibp throw

in a completely hypothetical scenario where all those named players ended up being caught by VAC or similarly busted I'm pretty sure it would be the beginning of a very sudden end for the cs pro scene, reminiscent of SC2's match fixing scandals out of south korea, so that would be sad

Everyone else on the team is inconsistent as hell, including tarik, possibly the most overrated player in NA. e: Well, I mean, I guess koosta is on CLG now, but I don't think he's a better AWPer than Skadoodle when they're both showing up.

Tarik stew Ska nothing then look at options for a 5th. Pita seems to be decent lately but he will likely regress, so he should focus on coach if he doesn't want to be a starter anymore. Irikandji can't coach because he is looking for a real job iirc. Koosta could be fine with a few months of playing as a backup focused on a rifle oriented game and trying to become a double threat. Or he could be shipped to any number of tier 2 teams for a rifler 5th. I think players like Tarik and koosta will become better with scenery changes. This is total conjecture Edit; as far as league goes riot has a bunch of rules wrt poaching that renegades violated before they joined lcs. They performed badly due to a lot of visa issues and used a challenger series squad (similar to premier) as a farm team to try to stay in lcs. Anyway it's complicated, they got in trouble again but riot refused to show any evidence. They had to sell their spot with 1 week notice and probably lost a gently caress ton of money. I'm also pretty sure they have gaming house setups at casinos in Vegas and they probably are losing money on that too. How important is the success of a team to the gaming corporations in the first place? I understand that they draw in literal winnings, and people want to support a team that isn't poo poo, but doesn't a lot of it come down to people seeing their clan tags? On that level, most teams are getting the same publicity. Is the fnatic org more successful than someone like dig because of the team?

symbolic posted:I don't follow League. What happened? It was kind of a long string of stuff that's pretty weird and it stirred up some controversy about how Riot handles things that led to (predictably) 0 change in the way Riot handles stuff. Here's what happened: A while back, Chris Badawai (owner of Renegades) announces they're getting a LoL team and they're going the co-ownership route with Montecristo (one of the casting pair for the english Korean scene). Everyone is like whoa, this roster has promise, room to grow, poo poo like that. Well about a month later, they get penalized by Riot for something Riot defines as Poaching. They approached two players who were already on teams under contract asking them if they would like to be a part of the team if they bought out their contracts. Well, Riot considers this a no-go, and in the past they've fined teams for this (highest fine was $10k because it was a team doing it right after Riot had a meeting with the teams to explain the new ruleset), so consider everyone's surprise when they announce that Badawi is getting permanently banned from owning either an LCS or a CS (challenger series) team. Everyone is going "wtf?" because this is one of the harshest punishments Riot has thrown down in quite a while for what is a very simple infraction. Rumors abound and people start thinking that maybe it wasn't necessarily anything bad against Badawi but rather it was more of a Monte v Riot type situation(Riot and Monte have had a complicated relationship for a while now and this isn't the first time something shady has gone down between the two of them). Monte goes "ok Badawi isn't the Team Owner we're just licensing the Renegades name from him" or something like that, and Team Dragon Knights (their CS team) does the same. Time goes by, Renegades knocks their sister team TDK back into CS and maintains their LCS spot (they finished 8th place which is considered a relegation spot, a CS team plays you and if they beat you you become a CS team while they move into the LCS). Then about a month later, Riot comes out and goes "Listen, after our EXTENSIVE internal review we are certain that Badawi is still involved in the team(duh), there might have been collusion between TDK and Renegades, and also all the players living at the Renegades house are living in poor conditions so we're permanently banning Chris Badawi from associating with anything even close to resembling a league of legends team". Everyone on Renegades goes on Twitter and goes "wtf?" but its to late, Riot has spoken and that is that forever. Team gets sold off to EnvyUs and (if its true) looks like Badawi is just gettin the gently caress out of eSports altogether

On that level, most teams are getting the same publicity. Is the fnatic org more successful than someone like dig because of the team? Pretty important. Sponsorship deals come from brand recognition, as well as being associated with success and skill (because sponsors are usually gaming related), which generally comes with you winning tournaments. People recognise the name Flipsid3, but compared to fnatic they are small fry. They won't be getting on the big stage watched by a million people in a grand final and whatnot. Not to mention fnatic branded gear and product tie-ins are probably about 1000x more popular than F3 related ones. If you want to see how a team's success can impact an org, you only need to look at Luminosity. A new org (Feb 2015), they picked up a lot of success and steam with their CS:GO team and now they have teams in loads of other games. I'm not totally familiar with the contracts they have with players, but it isn't unusual for orgs to take no or only a small percentage of winnings from their players, so a lot of that will simply be riding on the back of sponsorship deals gained by the fact that the LG CS:GO team is now super well known and successful Jeza fucked around with this message at 19:13 on Jun 14, 2016 |
