I report everything I see where the price in the title doesn't match the price in the body. Especially all the $1 dicknoses. I usually don't see them anymore though by just putting a $10 minimum in the search.

The RB26 has the AWD parts in the oilpan, most swaps(that are not also converting the swap-ee car to AWD at the same time) end up using a lot of RB25 parts anyway because of that reason.

Ineptus Mechanicus posted:Or lease a Nissan Altima, after saving just a bit more. It was the last day of school, May of '07. I took the bus to the closest Nissan dealership and couldn't wait to buy first car, a fully loaded and brand new 2007 Altima 3.5SL. I got a great deal on it, too. I test drove it and loved it. Once the initial paperwork was done, I was escorted to the finance department. I sat down with the finance manager Stan, a quick talker and overall very courteous man. He made sure to explain what all the fees and things on the contract meant, and we decided the best thing to do was for me to "Smart Buy" the vehicle. I was told this was basically an offshoot of a standard lease, except it'd be more like financing it since the interest rate would be 3%. We wrote everything out on a separate piece of paper. I put $3,270 on my credit card (which I immediately paid off) and $13,505.33 in checks. So this $16,775.33 downpayment would be added to the buyout price of $18,242.00 (plus $150 buyout fee) to total $35,167.33, a bit on the high side but reasonable. Recently, I installed Quicken to synchronize all my finances in one place. That's when I pulled the ol' contract out and figured I should just pay the rest of the car's payments off in one sum, no point in paying interest (I was going to use the money to invest in the stock market and get a better return, which I never did). So I call up NMAC (Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation), and they tell me the total cost to buyout the car would be $23,000. That means the total price of the car would be over $40,000. So I ask them to double and triple check, and they assure me that's the correct figure. Before calling the dealership I bought the car from, I call another one to make sure. Yep. So I call Stan and he tells me a customer just came in and he'll give me a call back in 2 minutes. 15 minutes later, I call him back and I explain to him I'd like for him to pull up my record so we can discuss the discrepancy between the full amount he told me I'd have to pay when I was in his office signing the contracts, and the full amount NMAC is telling me I owe. He says the records, since they're over a year old, are in an office the next building over and he can have them for me first thing in the morning. I say okay, but I've got the contract in front of me and I want to sort it out now so it won't be in the back of my mind all day. As I'm explaining all the figures to him he interrupts me and says "I'm gonna put you on hold." A minute later, I'm talking to the operator and he transfers me back to Stan, the finance manager. He asks me who this is, and I tell him. I figure at this point he realizes I want answers and he begins to listen. I ask him how come he told me the price of the car, in total, would be not a penny over $35,167.33 when I was sitting across from him in his office. He tells me he doesn't remember saying that, and that I had everything in front of me on the contract. It's basic math and I should've been able to figure it out. So I calmly state that the entire reason I was asking him to explain the contract was so I could understand what the jargon meant, which he had no problem explaining to me at the time. And he did. He told me the buyout price added to the downpayment would equal the total price. Now, on the phone with him, he tells me that I'm not factoring in the monthly payments. "Of course the monthly payments would factor into the total price, what did you think those were going towards?" But even so, that's not how the $40,000 is calculated. It's not monthly payments (totaling $10,888) added to buyout added to downpayment. I don't even know how it's calculated, still.

It's basically a glorified 2-seater escort. The 1986.5 refresh was a better looking car, but like that I haven't seen one in years. They were pretty rare even when available. My dad bought one brand new (a 2-seater Escort dad, why?? ) and it was OK but not going to set the world on fire, even in the mid 80s.

Holy poo poo, this is exactly what my neighbor had 90's, but it was lime green. Adult Me tried to hunt down what it was based on the nugget of memory from my childhood, but kept looking at old Probes and Capris. I knew it was a Ford, I knew the headlights looked like pop-ups that were stuck open, but never found something that matched my memory. I always thought it was some rare euro-spec hot rod he'd had imported, reality is disappointing.

The refreshed front looks far better than the frog-eyed version. Sometime in the late 90's I was driving cross country when I saw an EXP pass me on the left and I was confounded as to what it was and it stuck with me for years. Ended up buying one from outside of Baltimore a few years back and despite a few issues it was reliable enough. The only picture of it that I still have is from the original ad
