But he says the policy was working, and stops drownings at sea.

Matter of fact, I'm salty now.
Here's a recap on Q&A for those who missed seeing Turnbull.
(These aren't necessarily in order).

-Turnbull sounds like he has a cold, but manages to answer some of the initial questions alright.

-Turnbull somewhat fobs off a question suggesting that he is Tony Abbott, draws laughs.

-The first stumble by Turnbull, in my opinion, was when he was asked a question by a Doctor on health funding. Turnbull implicitly reveals that his schema of healthcare provision purely revolves around Medical Doctors and other specialists. I'm not surprised that the Doctor asking the question didn't interject, but obviously there's more to healthcare than those with M.D in their name. He also stumbles over a question on medicare co-payments.

-Turnbull has to defend the principle of trickle-down economics again. He goes "NO, IT DOES WORK" and also says it doesn't increase inequality (lmao).

-Turnbull then equates suicide with mental illness. Also further highlights that his idea of healthcare provision doesn't extend past medical doctors.

:siren:the main event:siren:
-Q&A show a video clip of Behrouz Boochani, an asylum seeker who is detained on Manus Island, and asks why he is detained in "Manus Prison" for three years. Apparently, this person has been assessed as meeting the criteria for a legitimate refugee (ughhhhhh), however, has not been processed. Turnbull is speechless and initially reverts to Abbotts involuntary nodding while he processes the literal coup de grace. Turnbull flat out says that he can't come to Australia, regardless if he is a refugee or not. Twitter goes wild with amazement, who can truly believe that someone would publicly admit that the purpose of these concentration camps is to be so cruel to humans in order to persuade refugees to settle in PNG, notable shooter of university students.

Turnbull doubles down on the effectiveness of the Final Solution, the audience is extremely unimpressed. Turnbull tries to blame Labor for the mess they are in, lol. Turnbull just keeps repeating about how they have to be strong in the face of people smugglers. This marks the moment when Turnbull is now on the back foot.

-Turnbull receives a question about the concentration camp on Manus Island. The unrelenting questions about the death camps evokes more Tony Abbott head nodding. Deflects question by blaming PNG Govt. Tries to then blame everyone in Australia for the harshness of the policy. Engages in all-or-nothing thinking by saying that if we don't have the death camps, then we might as well throw away the border protection. Again blames Labor and Kevin Rudd, lol.

-Turnbull gets a question about comments made by Cory Bernadi and George Christensen re: LGBTIQ people. He tip-toes around the question and does not condemn his own party members.

-Turnbull is asked why a women has to vote in order to give her son (who is gay) the right to marry. Turnbull retorts that he is not a dictator. Deflects responsibility to Tony Abbott. BLAMES LABOR AGAIN, Homophobia doesn't exist, has faith in the common sense of Australians.

-Turnbull gets rekt over a question about the Arts and the Creative Industries, seeing as it was linked to the "Jobs and Growth" mantra.

-Somewhere, Turnbull accuses Tony Jones of being a Labor shill.

No the news cycle today is all about LABOUR LYING SCARE CAMPAIGN ON MEDICARE. Because we all know MT suit is one of the good 'uns that would never lie to win an election. This is an impressively risky play from someone who has been nail gunned to a bunch of stuff he doesn't believe in at all as the price of getting the big chair. And as a consequence has been telling half truths ever since he took power. Playing the liar card as a politician is a real sign of panic.

He never really has been. He does better when it's a prepared speech, and can just throw big words out there but considering even Shorten can beat him in a debate it really proves just how weak he is at backing up his statements without prepared statements.

I guess most journalists earn more than I thought.

My partner was saying this morning that he wished ABC News 24 had less politics in the morning and more general news. I said it's an election so of course that's all they're doing because they don't have to think of anything to say - they can just play clips of what everyone else is saying. "Oh, so it's like Australia's Funniest Home Videos for journalists then"

Are Labor as ruthless as the LNP as far as playing favourites with the media goes? Maybe they're afraid that they'll miss out on some leak or exclusive if they aren't seen to be sucking on Mal's cock enthusiastically enough.

“As the July 2 election draws close, Labor is holding onto a narrow two-point lead in today’s Essential Research poll as the Coalition’s primary vote slips a point.

Labor is steady on 37%, while the Coalition is down a point to 40%. The Greens are also steady on 10%; NXT are on 4%; and “others” are on 9%. That produces a 51%-49% lead for Labor, unchanged from last week.”

Corporate Fat Cat
Remember the scumbag who got arrested for posting racist abuse to Nova Peris who at first insisted his faceybooks were "hacked"? Yeah, nah

The Guardian posted:

Chiropractor admits posting abusive online messages to Nova Peris

Christopher Nelson, a former Liberal party member from the central coast of New South Wales, pleads guilty to using Facebook to send offensive messages

A 64-year-old man from the New South Wales central coast has pleaded guilty to posting racist and offensive online messages to the outgoing Labor senator Nova Peris.

Chris Nelson, a chiropractor, pleaded guilty at the Woy Woy local court on Tuesday to one count of using a carriage service to offend.

He was arrested and charged in late May over a comment on the former Northern Territory senator’s Facebook page that told her to “go back to the bush and suck on witchity grubs and yams”.

The post also said that Peris was “only endorsed by Juliar [Julia Gillard] because [she was] black”, and criticised her for wearing white ochre on her face during her 2013 maiden speech.

Peris shared a screenshot of the offensive post on her Facebook page on 28 May with the comment: “#Racism – it stops with me.”

“I’ll continue to wear ochre on my face just like my people have done for thousands of years! My skin is my pride,” she wrote in a comment responding to Nelson.

“P.S. Never had a witchy grub. I’m coastal, the mangrove worms are delicious & the yams are amazing.” She concluded her comment with a peace-sign emoji.

Peris was hand-picked by then prime minister Julia Gillard in 2013 to become the first Indigenous woman to be elected to Australia’s federal parliament.

Nelson, 64, was expelled from the Liberal party after the allegations were first made.

He initially claimed that he had been “the victim of a really horrible and extremely vicious hacking”.

“I’m definitely not a racist,” he told the Central Coast Express Advocate last month. “I’ve got friends who are Aboriginal and family who are Aboriginal.”

He said he had received death threats as a result of the publicity, and his business name had been “trashed by the online haters”, potentially fast-tracking his plans to retire.

But Nelson pleaded guilty in his first appearance at the Woy Woy local court on Tuesday.

Using a carriage service to offend carries a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment.
