Part of it has to do with the fact that High Fantasy is a irredeemably trash and dull setting and Witcher does nothing to make its setting interesting. The idea of being a blue collar exterminator in a fantasy world is kind of cool but the premise would actually be cooler if it was allowed to be more mundane and less mystical. I would play the poo poo out an RPG where you were a 9-5 exterminator charged with going from town to town and answering house calls because a goddamn Gryphon is in Old Farmer Prescott's attic again.
