According to the chairman of Cornwall council (as of thursdays newspaper), Cornwall is aiming not for 350 million but closer to 500 to 600 million in the EU structural funds as the government and private firms generally match the amount. Still no confirmation on whether that's still happening, funnily enough. But there is good news! Because of the crashing pound, European holidays are more expensive so tourism in Cornwall will go up

Veep has had its last season. Surely Armando Iannucci could do a Thick of It radio special? All the cast have said repeatedly they'd love to get back together, and even Capaldi might well be available if he could show up, read lines, and return to the Who set. I don't think it matters. No ones getting anything and there will be further cuts. Regional budgets are only going to fall. It's a shame it'll take decades for the idiots here in wales to realise what they've done. There will be immediate effects. A complete stoppage of the investment the EU put in. But a lack of "new" things is hard to detect. It's only when the present features and areas begin to decay that they'll realise something is up. I misread the number, it's £320m to be paid by 2020 as part of the EU's investment into Cornwall, not the £350m "membership fee". People are worrying about whether they can get the full payment fast-tracked within the estimated 2 years it will take to leave the EU.

I have no idea if the CCW is still around, but environmental funding (at least certainly on the nature conservation front) was being massively reduced across all of the UK a decade ago, and it's never been a high priority. The problem with being Centrist is there's no passion for it. Nobody wants to rush in and help Labour return to being not quite the Tories, this does not excite anyone and trying to get a grassroots going over it is doomed to fail.

So when the hell is Eagle going to put up or shut up and actually trigger a leadership election? Does she (and the PLP more broadly) not realise how weak they look? It's literally: PLP: 'WE'RE BOOTING YOU OUT IF YOU DON'T RESIGN!' JC: 'OK good luck' PLP: 'DON'T TEST US, WE WILL!' JC: 'Cool whenever you're ready ' PLP: 'WE'LL GIVE YOU A DAY TO CONSIDER YOUR OPTIONS' JC: 'No it's fine I can start whenever' PLP: 'Ok two days' JC: '...' These guys would be the worst at poker, it's such an obvious bluff. Maybe they're too committed to back out now though. They know they won't win a a leadership challenge, and he's clearly not leaving voluntarily despite all the pressure they're putting on him. I wonder if there is a way of them stepping back gracefully without taking making the challenge in the end? Probably not. I hope the lot of them get deselected.
