He said that the small ways he shows his actions (fist shaking in rage before smashing a comm unit, fistbumping a collectible, etc) created the character, rather than being told about them and just going 'oh, that's why.' I think he used the term 'mad whimsy' to describe it. The codex in the game is also great, especially when you read the parts where you've already done this before, and the last time you ran through hell you left their greatest giants in pieces on battlefields so wide they are zones in and of themselves. They had to drop a temple on you to stop you, and they destroyed all but one member of the team that pulled you out of hell because they feared you that much.
