On the one hand, they're kind of right. On the other hand, that is clearly a Bizarro strip that someone has cropped Dan Piraro's signature off, and that annoys the poo poo out of me. They're not saying "don't take doctor-prescribed medications", they're saying that nothing you buy from the chemist will cure your cold, which is true. And eating healthy is pretty standard medical advice for avoiding colds.

GOTTA STAY FAI posted:IDGI. Are the media dishonest because those characters aren't Jewish? Or did he buy the book and, after a thorough count, only come up with 49 stickers? Trump's campaign produced a graphic made with an image of Hillary and a pile of money from /pol/ (a neo-nazi/alt-right forum), and a six pointed star with the words "most corrupt candidate ever" plastered on top. The Trump campaign eventually explained that the star was supposed to be a sheriff's star, and that the background image was totally found somewhere other than /pol/. The original image is pretty clearly neo-nazi propaganda, and some intern didn't identify it as such and decided what it needed was a lovely WordArt star on top. It's possible for a person to do those things without malice, and then retract the image and apologize when its problems are pointed out to you. Trump instead replaced the image with one that had a lovely circle instead of the star, added the hashtag #AmericaFirst, and started attacking the media for freaking out over that one star instead of all the other six-pointed stars (not attached to neo-nazi imagery) out there.

How is the original image clearly neo-nazi propaganda? "Hillary is corrupt and loves money" is something literally every single republican believes. The star is the only thing that gives it neo-nazi connotations. I don't know where it came from so I'm not necessarily disputing that /pol/ nazis made it, but the Trump campaign adding the star makes them even more anti-semitic than /pol/ which is quite a feat.

ModernMajorGeneral posted:How is the original image clearly neo-nazi propaganda? "Hillary is corrupt and loves money" is something literally every single republican believes. The star is the only thing that gives it neo-nazi connotations. The original image had the star, when they took it from the alt-right racist folks. They later changed it to a circle and deleted the original tweet, which implied that they agreed it maybe wasn't the most tasteful image, but when asked about it, they doubled down insisting that no person ever could see a red six pointed star on top of money as anti-semitic. After the source was discovered and it came to light that anti-semitism was a huge part of the image to begin with, they still refused to apologize and claimed that since the campaign wasn't aware of the implications, it wasn't a bad thing to do. Honestly, the worst part about all this was when Jewish people on twitter objected to the image, they were flooded with threats of gassing and murder, shown Holocaust memes and such. So regardless of whether the campaign liked it or not, a portion of Trump's base absolutely saw the anti-semitism, and voiced their full-throated approval of it.
