i dunno about sma / razor, but FCON I've been there for a while, they always label themselves as mere ally to goons, but they are no goons. just sitting cornered in branch jewing all day everyday, welping fleets to wh'er and in NPC NS. when there is battle call from goons raging to fountain/delve/wherever, they always put their staging somewhere else and do different things. I won't describe that as allies, it is more like average teenage group members disobeying everyone else and keep banging their head on a wall.

All this "EVE is dying" talk over the last few pages was a really unenjoyable read and I thought Boats comments on the Metashow about it were pretty bad too. There's still a lot of players out there that enjoy the game and will continue to enjoy the game for the foreseeable future, myself included. The negativity Boat expressed on the stream really put me off watching it though it was nice to see him enjoying EVE later on when he started streaming it. Glad I had the option of not watching live so I could skip to that point.

It really seems like all CCP need to do is get rid of the initial 2-3 months of training dull as poo poo "fitting" skills, polish this SCOPE mission system up a bit, and then another B-R would boost the numbers and allow them to retain them a bit better. My first attempt to play EVE was in 2007 or something, and I gave up because I was your standard highsec pubbie trying to mine his way to riches. Then I came back in 2014 for 3 months and joined Goonswarm, and that was much better but having to train for 30 days and see almost no improvement in what you can fly/how well you can fly it was too offputting. This is my third attempt and now I'm past 12mill SP on my main it is so much more enjoyable.

EVE's NPE being poo poo is a result of EVE's complexity. I've always wondered whether people got defensive over any potential changes to the NPE because they saw that as possibly dumbing down the complexity of EVE (which can be a sticking point for some of the current player-base), or if it was more a case of "we took our licks and stuck it out, so new pubbies should too". But unless EVE fixes the NPE, it could possibly be a case of heat death. As to the discussion of GSF's other allies in The Imperium... I wasn't around for most of it. I only really know what I've seen firsthand, heard from other people in The Imperium, and read about in Wikis and poo poo. At the end of the day a lot of our former allies keep restating that they have their own sense of identity and that lead them out of the coalition (or other similarly meaningless lines), but obviously leaving was about surviving as an organization in a hostile environment. But it also seems to me that GSF made a lot of their allies stakeholders in GSF's well being. Running and using sigs and squads across the entire coalition, providing logistics and financial services, and always providing body-count for whatever was going on. It doesn't seem like a lot of the other alliances in The Imperium (particularly Co2 and SMA) were run well enough to have any of their own organic development of stakeholders among GSF or other Imperium members. When you look at it from a kind of sociological or business-management perspective, it's not particularly shocking that some people would straight up widot into GSF, or that GSF would happily open the door and let people join. Reminding people of incentives they already have to make a decision isn't quite the same as poaching or head-hunting. Particularly when there didn't seem to be any dubious activities designed to subvert people's sense of loyalty to whatever alliance floats their boat. I sound like a broken-record apologist, but the fact remains GSF is remarkably well-run. That's very appealing, in and of itself. e: typos. He's Bomberwaffe, not a space tyrant. Worst thing he'll do is turn your fleet into Dresden.
