My take (disclaimer: I'm stupid): Networks didn't like it because they're they're looking at it from too technical of a viewpoint. I would imagine they think every speech should end with the crowd riled up like I Have A Dream. They should be judging it in terms of what the speech set out to accomplish. Bill set out to undo the Republican narrative of Clinton as a cold bitch and give Democrats a reason to believe Hillary's words moving forward. I think he did that exceedingly well.

This speech traditionally ISN'T supposed to be some barn burner that leaves people chanting, it's supposed to be a very heartfelt talk about why the person you love is the best choice for the country. People looking at this expecting something to 'examine' are coming at it wrong.
