I guess there's some e-mails Hillary didn't hand over.. but the government had them anyway since they involved people who were using the official e-mail systems.. but this is a scandal because the government should definitely also have a second copy from Hillary's server as well..

So sound the alarms, Hillary didn't hand over e-mails to the government that the government was already in possession of like she was supposed to.

Judicial Watch literally exists to FOIA every single thing Hillary does and has been doing this for years. If they don't release SOMETHING then I guess their funding starts to dry up so :effort:

They're likely the reason Clinton went for the private server in the first place, so them not understanding that the reason she would force them to FOIA something mundane instead of handing it over being "because gently caress you, that's why" instead of "because I'm hiding terrible secrets" is doubly funny

The closest parallel these days are Hillary supporters in the primary, who weren't loud but still had impressive turnout, and eventually won.

The original silent majority was middle class white people who didn't care much for hippies, protesters, or minorities. Thankfully they've died out and been replaced by hippies, protesters, and minorities.

The demographics that put Nixon into power don't exist anymore. White people as a singularly meaningful demographic group barely exist anymore. We've started having to break white people down by gender and education in order to draw any real conclusions.

I can't imagine very many board games where somebody like Clinton wouldn't totally take my rear end to school without trying. She's extremely good at what she does, which is why you see so many polls saying, "I don't necessarily think she's trustworthy, but I think she'd be a fine president"

Also the white middle class not only shrank, but it voted itself into poverty in the 80's so now they're the white working class lmao.

He cut himself off after saying the word "government," in a way that kind of, if you were listening over a low quality cell phone line from the bottom of the sea, sounded like "friend of the family." So everyone decided Rick Santorum was a klansman and it was the stupidest loving thing ever that made everyone look like overly-partisan fools.

Comparing that to Donald Trump is ridiculous. The Santorum thing required so many leaps of logic. Donald Trump is re-tweeting white supremacist memes from white supremacists.

Its been interesting that there has been no Republican comments on Trump's statement, except from within his camp.

This means there is two options: they are really going to try to ignore it, or they are going to come out with strong denunciations and disavowals.

I think it is the second, and that key figures are trying to figure out how to word it the best they can.

If it was just a normal gaffe, the responses would be "This was an unfortunate term of phrase", and they would have come out in the first few hours. But they didn't, people know this is different, and they know it is dangerous for their party, for their country, and for them personally. They have to move away from this, because they know that if they don't now, they will have to do it when it is even more painful. So I expect a few key disavowals tomorrow, followed by a Trump tantrum, followed by more disavowals from Trump as people want to look like they are leaving on principle and not like rats fleeing a sinking ship.

Or else I don't understand US politics and the line tomorrow is going to be "Media distortions, Benghazi, job creators, traditions, e-Mail servers"

Here's what I don't get about the "silent majority" thing. Polls are anonymous. It's not like when someone calls you to ask poll questions that there's anyone standing there watching you and judging your answers. The pollsters don't get your name, only demographics statistics. No one knows who it is who is saying they support Clinton or Trump. So in that scenario, why would anyone have any reason to lie about how they truly feel and so throw off a poll? And how likely could it possibly be that this happens consistently over all polls?

The silent majority doesn't exist.

There are two typical explanations for this: dumb, and goddamn crazy.

Dumb: All of the polls, every single one, are oversampling democrats because look they'll have something like 6% more respondents self-identify as democrat than republican. But of course an unbiased poll would sample exactly 50% democrats and 50% republicans (or insert whatever fantasy you have about the "real" ratios of democrats to republicans in the country here). So to unskew the polls you just reweight the responses from Democrats and Republicans and there you have it, Romney Trump is heading for a blowout victory.

Goddamn crazy: conservatives are so beaten down and ashamed by the powerful liberal media/professors/Hollywood/record label elite that they dare not whisper their conservative beliefs to a stranger for fear of condemnation so like whipped dogs they cringe and say whatever they think liberals want to hear. But in the voting booth, they become Winston Smith with his diary, finally free to express their true selves with a fierce and joyous pull of the lever for Romney Trump!
