That's how Clinton has been running her entire campaign. She's staying quiet and local. Yeah the DNC was her front and center, but really, she's entirely content to let Trump eat news cycles that show how much of a buffoon he is. The whole Shooter's Dad thing was something that may have made a cycle or two if Trump didn't open his mouth, but the campaign quickly came out "We didn't invite him" and later (the same day!) "We disavow him", unlike Trump who takes forever and a half to disavow David loving Duke.

Her email answer notwithstanding, she has been running a very clean campaign, and it shows.

The more territory they lose, the more people susceptible to their ideology stay in the western nations they originate from. No one cares when ISIS is burning hundreds of brown people to death in Syria, but it's a big deal when a much less lethal attack hits the west - and it will probably happen again and with more voracity now that they're losing horribly.

Nope, I just looked at the state-by-state data and looked at what would happen if Trump were to get a completely uniform 7% bump in the polls (enough to bring him exactly even with Hillary). The result would be that he would take Iowa, Florida, Ohio, Nevada, and NH, just barely getting over 269.

That indicates that (as the polls stand today, and understanding that this is likely to change with any new polls) Trump has a structural advantage. A tied popular vote would go to Trump.

Two pages ago, but look at the conditional probabilities :ssh:
The numbers you're looking at say Trump is more likely to lose the EC if he wins the popular vote than Clinton is to lose the EC if she wins the popular vote.

(part of the reason the popular vote is so lopsided is that Trump does relatively worse in solid red/blue states than in swing states, so Clinton runs up the score with a lot of superfluous blue state votes)

Is there a thread about the BPD findings? I'm going through the report right now and holy poo poo there's some absolutely awful poo poo in there.

quote:

We found evidence that BPD supervisors have explicitly condoned trespassing arrests that
do not meet constitutional standards, and evidence suggesting that trespassing enforcement is
focused on public housing developments. A shift commander for one of BPD’s districts emailed a
template for describing trespassing arrests to a sergeant and a patrol officer. The template provides
a blueprint for arresting an individual standing on or near a public housing development who cannot
give a “valid reason” for being there—a facially unconstitutional detention. Equally troubling is the
fact that the template contains blanks to be filled in for details of the arrest, including the arrest data
and location and the suspect’s name and address, but does not include a prompt to fill in the race or
gender of the arrestee. Rather, the words “black male” are automatically included in the description
of the arrest.
The supervisor’s template thus presumes that individuals arrested for trespassing will
be African American.

trouble, the officer decided to attempt to disperse the gathering alone. The officer reported that he

altercation with a man who refused to leave. Alone and surrounded by an unfriendly crowd, the
officer fired his service weapon at a man he feared was about to kick him. The bullet struck two

So currently Assange is trying to coyly put it out that the dead DNC staffer was the source of the leak.

Of course they don't "comment on our sources". But it could have been him. We don't know. But "our sources take risks".

Buzzfeed link with video of interview from a Dutch news program.

quote:

“I am suggesting that our sources take risks and they become concerned to see things occurring like that,” Assange added, when asked what he was alleging. “We don’t comment on who our sources are.”

Asked by interviewer Eelco Bosch van Rosenthal why he would speculate about someone being shot, Assange said it showed “our sources face serious risks.”

“We have to understand how high the stakes are in the US, and that our sources face serious risks. That’s why they come to us, so we can protect their anonymity,” he said

Of course this comes in the wake of US agencies linking the Russia to the DNC hack
