I forgot that System Shock has two (well probably more but) neat references to Neuromancer. The flechette pistol looks like the poo poo assed Cobra piece of junk that Case buys to defend himself when he thinks Wage is trying to kill him, and the hilariously useless Riot Gun is the same thing a bit character carries. Also the Reactor level music sounds like Head Like a Hole by NiN and the Science level sounds like Mammagamma by Alan Parsons Project. This has been your dose of System Shock Observances.

I remember a Quake 3 mod "Smash Quake" (smashq3) being fun. I can't immediately find pictures or video, but here's an archive of the website before it moved to PlanetQuake and its sub-pages became un-archivable: https://web.archive.org/web/20040218081922/http://www.whatthehal.com/smash/ Looks like the final version of the mod was released in April 2004 to make it compatible with the final Q3 point release. I'm sure the file is out there somewhere...

The Revision mod for Deus Ex has just released a big new update, 1.1 "Tempora". The highlights include 100+ Steam achievements, an extension to UNATCO HQ, new footstep sounds and a "Trenchcoat Mode" which dramatically reduces the size of your inventory.

Hey Kins, is there a particular dev build you're using to test the mod with, that you'd recommend we use to run it? All the ZDoom forum post says is to use one of the latest dev builds, but doesn't specify.

Segmentation Fault posted:Is that trap wall silent? It ought to be. That's a really impressive (and cheap!) way to disorient the player and make them feel like they're in a non-euclidean space. Yeah, it's silent. It also comes down fast enough that the player can't back up and cheese their way out of it. Here's the circuit I have set up that gets the player back to where they were: The door at the very top of the pic is a red keycard door; the card itself is in the room on the lefthand side of the arena. But there's a drop there that you can't jump back up, so you have to go this route through the vent: When the wall comes down that traps the player in the arena, the bookcases in the hallway drop down so you can use a small tunnel to get back into the arena room (I also included another vent so the player can backtrack if they want to go back for something). Circular level design is fun! CJacobs fucked around with this message at 02:00 on Aug 16, 2016 |

Ziggurat is pretty neat. It's basically Heretic/Hexen with The Binding Of Isaac's level structure and progression systems.
