Dead weight, just like this post.

Now that i've played Bounty Hunter a bit more i like the mode more than i did before. But it's still super lame in comparison to Attrition. I don't like all the action being segregated to 2 points on the map and since there are 2 each team can have their own little fun farming their own Grunts. Unless you want to be a dick and go over to the enemies side to steal some kills i guess but that usually doesn't end up well if you're the only titan on your team.

No more turning a corner and walking into a squad of dudes already in mid-firefight, killing the enemy grunts, then wallrunning off into the sunset while your dudes are in awe of how awesome you are :allears:

Speaking of which, i am kind of glad your faction support staff isn't always complimenting you like they had a habit of doing in 1.

I thought it was a nice touch when they say that you're dominating some guy or he's gonna hold a grudge. The constant radio chatter and comms just added to the atmosphere, I think. I've never seen any game really capture the feel of crazy skirmishes like that. They basically took the idea of announcers from games like Unreal Tournament, Quake and Halo and made it more personalized, which is a clever idea in my opinion. We really need an fps announcer that completely loses his poo poo like the guy from Killer Instinct, though. If I go on some crazy killing spree I want "ULTRAAAAAAAA COMBOOOOOOOO" blaring out of the speakers of every single person in the freakin' game while my name flashes on their screens and everything turns red.

gently caress I forgot about knife hacking now I'm sad.

It's a shame that they never found a way to integrate knife hacking with titans. It would be funny if you could rodeo knife-hack someone's titan when it's on autopilot (they could balance it by however long it takes to hack, so the risk/reward element comes into play), or hop on to rodeo a titan that's being piloted and have the option of doing a knife hack to disable the core ability or something. Having someone rage because they went to activate their laser core and their cockpit view bluescreened would be hilarious.

this is primo poo poo. also why are the cap points the same model as the bank when they could be a new type of titan that you are activating. then you could move it around maybe with a leash so it has to stay in the general area and defeating it would eject the pilot and shut it down to get recapped. idk something more cool than banks you have to capture twice

$80 for the Deluxe Edition is pretty steep. Other than the extra themes and skins is it basically like a season pass? What are all the bonuses?

I think that extra $20 only gets you a bunch of cosmetics. There is no season pass, all new maps and modes are gonna be free. They learned their lesson from the first game's DLC splitting the player base (they eventually made all the maps free and that helped).

They're def gonna sell something, though, mostly cosmetics I bet. But I am paranoid that they could charge us for new Titans down the line. :tinfoil:

Initial beta impressions:

Amped Hardpoint just requires a team swapping out ampers (read: people camping at a point) with other players whenever an amper gets the titan. Problem is, the CoD mindset might have set in since NOBODY amps. Other than that, just make sure to have one amper so you don't ask "why the gently caress did we lose".

Pilot vs Pilot is standard. Not sure what Amped Weapons do.

Haven't tested Bounty Hunt due to net starting to go wonk.

Weapons feel good-ish? Or probably the Spitfire was a good feel weapon.

They're using the Microsoft Azure servers again, as well as a few other services which do the same thing as well, so they still have access to the cloud computing that powered the AI in the first game. They could solely be using it for dedicated servers this time round however, rather than dedicated servers & AI like the first game.

There really is a lot of atmosphere missing from the game however that isn't just relegated to the AI grunts & spectres. I also miss the capturable AI turrets (and being able to use the hacking knife on spectres) and the huge battles that occurred in the levels (lots of dogfighting ships in the sky and the giant laser firing up to take out a battleship in Outpost 207) as well as all the alien wildlife such as the flying creatures in Boneyard and the huge dinosaurs on the perimeter of Airbase. That combined with all the radio chatter and constant dropships flying in to spawn more AI grunts and drop pods unleashing spectres was really cool.

I guess at the end of the day though, it's really down to personal preference. I really enjoy chaotic gameplay, but it seems there's a lot of people out there who prefer much slower gameplay where there's less going on. My personal hopes for Titanfall 2 before we found out the details was that they'd actually ramp things up rather than scale them down, like maybe bumping up from 6v6 to 8v8 and adding even more AI into the levels so there's some insane battles going on.

No they're using some other network for their dedicated servers. I don't think they offloaded any AI to azure either so I don't think that's not a factor. That was more of a microsoft pipe dream to illustrate some kind of advantage over PSN.

I was somehow decent at titanfall 1 and am really bad at hitting my targets in titanfall 2 on xbox :(

Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
I put in a bunch of hours in both the tech test weekends and I think I'm gonna pass on TF2.

Titanfall one was amazing. I think they just needed to flesh out what they had with some more weapons and maybe camos for weapons and titans.

This tech test just felt really messy. Once you get the grenade launcher you own all the maps (it's a one hit kill from a stupid distance, and two at other distance).

I was going to go into a long explanation of why this feels like they did a bunch of dumb poo poo to TF to make TF2, but honestly, if this tech test is any indication of what the final game will be, it's gonna be a buggy, laggy mess with one or two OP guns and Titans that made out of paper.

So while the tech test still ain't touchin my tooter (smoocher) the way the original did, it IS growing on me. And Christ, people are bad at Bounty Hunt. I guess they're busy mixing it up with human opponents on the other side of the map after the first 2 waves, cause I always find myself alone in my Titan sliding around and punching the holy hell out of bots. At the end of most games I only have 3-5 enemy kills, but like 2.5k in the bank.

Not just in BH. Amped Hardpoint gets this problem as well. I mean, why stand around and get an easy Titan when you can just attack attack attack?

Unless killing does get Amped Weaps/Titans faster than just standing at a point.

I've been playing the tech test with some friends that only played attrition in TF1 and we constantly lose because they refuse to play the objectives. Yet they all brag about how many player kills they got. Drives me nuts.

If only there was a mode where AI grunts were roughly evenly scattered around the map(with heavy weight to spawning around pilots) that would offer things for players to do while hunting for other pilots like ziplines, wallrunning all over the place for crazy speed, knife hacking turrets or knife-hacking a possie of spectres. Sounds like something that would resolve the issue with players who are not interested in objective-based gameplay.
