Honestly, and I only know this because I'm older than dirt, the general indoor aesthetic on ST isn't really Eighties, it's mid-late Seventies, because people in small rural communities don't have the money or inclination to redo their kitchens and poo poo all the time. Which, to me, is even more impressive, because most period-piece shows look like you bought everything ten minutes before the show's supposed date, rather than mix in a few newer items with mostly older stuff like normal people do in real life.
