Awesome news, depressing response from the boys at Reddit, Sam Hyde would be a terrible guest. Tim Heidecker might be good, though. Jon Lovitz would be the best possible guest because Norm would have 0 compunction about belittling him for an hour and change. I also like the idea of Letterman and Jim Downey.

If they can find a self important guest that thinks they get Norm's humor but doesn't really and that they can make endless fun of without them really realizing it... that, in this author's opinion, would be the best possible guest. Todd Glass was the best, but Gottfried was awesome also using the same material. It just shows how great Norm is - he can make stuff work equally well whether his partner is willing to cooperate or not.

 Not the best episode, but still funny. Seems like guests have to "get" Norm's style for things to go well, otherwise things keep falling flat. Merchant claims to admire Norm, but doesn't laugh at the "this guy's a real jerk" bit?? Still had good moments and I'm excited the podcast is finally back.

Norm was great but jesus Stephen Merchant is a moron. He claims to be a fan but it's like he didn't understand anything Norm was trying to do at all. How do you not laugh at the "I mean this guy was a real jerk" line? I used to think Merchant was actually doing a pretty clever shtick in his various appearances on podcasts and interviews where he pretends to be humourless and boring. But I've realised now that he's not pretending and he's actually just a bit dim.
