Day did look bad by continually escalating to the point where she was ridiculously standing on top of Paulie but calling her "ghetto trash" is incredibly racially loaded lol.

Oddly enough, those threads have been quite civil by 4chan's standards 4chan is obsessed with Bridge and Big Munch. They soured on Natalie pretty quick but like her tanning pics by the pool. Plenty of good meme to go around. And, of course, there were dubs to check. That said, Day was looking for any opportunity to light up MY BROTHER PAULIE any chance she could when the cameras were on. I have no doubt Bridge had been needling her along as well for weeks. She clapped with glee when Day and Paulie started to get turnt up. And then when things went pear shaped she seemed confused and uncomfortable. How soon we all forgot the passive aggressive poo poo the women were doing to each other earlier this season. With the cast of Z, Bronte, Munch and Day ostracizing Bridge for gently caress-all of reasons. Remember the Stuffed Giraffe B-Day party? I do. Remember Z throwing away Bridgette's cake mix for her birthday the few night's previous? I do. Remember the countless bitch seshes in London? I do. This is why an all girl alliance will never ever work and it's comical to try in a game like this. The jury house needed some more guys other than Paulie in there because he couldn't keep up with all of the saucers of milk to quench the cattiness brewing in there. Sure, Paulie is a chauvinistic fuckstick and deservedly need to be raked over the coals for it but last I checked; Day, Bridge and Z went well before he did. A product of their own hubris. Seems like a bunch of bitter sour grapes narrated and reworked into some sort of social justice cause. I've seen this ride before. Paul to win.

Hmm, only Day went "well before" Paulie. Bridgette went out right before him in a double when one of the only people that couldn't win HOH for her won, and Zakiyah went right before that and she went because of Paulie. While it's fair to say women's alliances never seem to work out, I don't think it makes sense to cite Zakiyah being a cruel bully to Bridgette as a reason why. Zakiyah is just a hosed up person and every season doesn't necessarily have a Zakiyah. So is Meech heh. Also what, Bronte was mean to Bridgette? I thought they were friends.

Can't all you babies just agree that this season is 100% full of stupid bad players who are all bad people? Literally everyone has done something lovely to someone in that house maybe with the exception of Glenn who was barely there long enough to get a word in but if his RHAP appearance is any indication he, too, was a douchebag. I for one loved the jury house scene because it was a way to have these 2 stupid bad people get shown on national television for the stupid bad people they are. Good television.

Da'Vonne said that Paulie only gets in womens' faces, but did any of the men confront him? The closest I can remember was Paul gently telling him he was going home the week he had his breakdown.

The closest I can remember was Paul gently telling him he was going home the week he had his breakdown. Well the only time he had issues with the guys in the house he cried so... He had some heated conversations with Victor when Victor was HOH and had nominated him, but he never antagonized him. He had a heated exchange with James but that wasn't on stream so we don't know how that really went outside of what little the broadcast showed which was him telling him that he better win HOH, and he apologized soon after and cried when James betrayed him again. To be fair, the girls were the ones who stood up to him more directly. Meaning they confronted him specifically about his behavior, which set him off. The guys never really confronted him on stuff like that, so he never felt personally attacked by them. That said, I also don't really recall him being as disrespectful about any of the guys as he was with the girls either. Paulie is someone who threatened violence against Michelle(?) outside of the house but I never heard him speak that way about one of the dudes.

Focusing on the literal truth of his statement is missing the point. I don't think Paulie was speaking out of concern for Da'vonne's daughter at all or that he really cares what kind of example Da' is setting for her. I don't know if he said it for any reason other than to set Da' off and make himself look like the calm and rational one. Besides, Da' can be right about some things, too. So? It wouldn't justify her behavior any more than Paulie's rightness about anything would justify his. There's a whole context to that confrontation so I'm not sure about boiling it down to such a small part of the story as "he made a correct statement and she went berserk." I'm sorry, I'm not sure how this means an all-girls' alliance will never work. Do you think it's inevitable that women will behave this way with each other? It was in response to Natalie saying she doesn't have a scale or "count calories" or do FitBit stuff because she had one in the past. Which sort of sums up the difference between them, I think. Natalie seems to have self esteem issues too but she recognizes them for what they are and responds in a healthy way. She says when this is over she's just going to run a lot. On the other hand Michelle said she's going to read about herself online and "hopes" she gets depressed so she stops eating. Fedelm fucked around with this message at 01:01 on Sep 17, 2016 |

Natalie and Bridgette were genuinely friends and the kind of real life women that I know - I hope casting gets more girls like them in the future. I think the all girls alliance is coming. And for the record "ghetto trash" is not cool and not friendship.

Yeah, the all womens alliance is a thing that can and has worked in similar shows. Survivor had a rather infamous, if somewhat forced due to the season theme, example in One World, were the women's tribe stuck together and were strong throughout. They more or less rallied alongside a competent level headed woman who set the tone and ended up winning the season. It's the main hook which makes any good alliance work, a inspirational person that people like and respect and with whom they want to work with. Derrick to a lesser extent was that same factor two seasons ago.

patonthebach posted:Not that I agree with the insult or would say it myself... but... Day does brag about being from Inglewood and how she dont play. It's pretty common for people who are from marginalized groups or areas to use the things other people are marginalizing them for as points of pride or empowerment. A woman of color self-identifying as ghetto in an attempt to get a white man to back off is much different from if that white man identified her as ghetto to discredit her emotions. The context is definitely more important than the actual content. I also think Da has every right to feel hurt by Paulie because she's watching one of her best friends in a relationship with somebody awful who was specifically awful to her, and it has to feel like being betrayed. I also hate Big Meech's comic book cover, which was definitely unfairly cruel. She is also an unfairly cruel person, but hers is definitely stemming from self-esteem issues. I might be too much of a skeleton warrior to enjoy this show anymore. TheRecogScene fucked around with this message at 03:42 on Sep 18, 2016 |

I can't believe they bothered to do two separate flashback episodes this year. The ratio of re-hashed content to not-yet-aired feeds footage is always so far in favor of rehash. I wonder if the houseguests are purposefully trying to give terribly delivered intro lines to those segments, or if they're all legitimately bad at acting. I thought it would be a fun idea one season to just be like, "hey, here's some booze, we need you guys to reminisce about stuff at the table, but we won't actually guide what you talk about; we'll just edit it together based on what you want America to see." That's a potentially dangerous game though, considering how much the TV portrayals differ from the full view on the feeds.
