nope. it is impossible for a human to view a cube in the real world in the isometric mode -- your eyes can't do it. The view can be approximated with a telephoto lens of extreme length but that's it. it's objectively wrong as a representation of reality, in the same way that a false-color image of a nebula is wrong.

i'm viewing it in the real world in isometric mode right now. maybe your eyes need to get checked since you can't see half the frames in that gif

in much the same way as you can see an optical illusion that can't exist in the real world, like the Penrose triangle, the isometric view is an incorrect perspective that is nonetheless comprehensible.

you can't hold a cube in your hand and see it without foreshortening.

sorry about your massive head trauma that prevents you from seeing images, friend.

also anything that fits in your hand isn't going to have enough foreshortening to be noticeable

if you move a long way back and then zoom in so the cube still appears to be the same size, it gradually approaches an isometric appearance

Damn that's a
fine elephant.
We draw and project things for the purpose of communication. There are ways in which isometric projections are objectively superior for the purposes of visual clarity and communicating dimensions.

Calling perspective or isometric 'wrong' is like the dumbest loving thing.

yea, but you need a lens of infinite focal length to reach that point of true isometry. impossible.

did you know: every regular heptagon you've seen is also an incorrect approximation?

what do you mean "nothing is obviously weird" about an isometric view? it's a distortion of reality that should be immediately obvious at a glance because it violates the laws of how we see the world. one of these images is right and the other one is wrong:
