if you move a long way back and then zoom in so the cube still appears to be the same size, it gradually approaches an isometric appearance

We draw and project things for the purpose of communication. There are ways in which isometric projections are objectively superior for the purposes of visual clarity and communicating dimensions. Calling perspective or isometric 'wrong' is like the dumbest loving thing.
