I wonder how many regular rwd/awd cars you could fit a m120/m137 in to...

This is apparently an old Malibu named "T Bone" (for the obvious reason) that usually goes to demo derbies, but the guy brought it to a dragstrip and it went 7.44 before this happened. I suspect nitrous MIGHT have been involved

I'm suddenly reminded of the steel plug they put on top of an underground nuclear test which may or may not have achieved escape velocity. They captured one frame of it after detonation and estimated the speed as "bat out of hell" Edit: shot Pascal-B, 2000lb steel plate propelled at 66km/s

This was on Sloppy Mechanics, the group run by the guy whose youtube used to be denmah and is now Sloppy Mechanics, and the people in that group generally make 500+hp out of junkyard vortecs slammed into random trash cars and then turbo/spray the gently caress out of them for fun, so who knows. The page admin's hobby is showing up at dragstrips with shitpiles and getting kicked out for going too fast for his safety gear

The only way that thing would pull a 7.44 in a quarter mile is dropped out of a plane.

Make them drive a Cavalier, doesn't really matter what year because every single edition was a miserable car. Though the third gen was by far the worst. They were cheap though, and had an American name, so people bought them in hordes.

Even better, it's Australian dollars. Not the American dollar value equivalent to AU$1500 (it's about US$1150), but actual Australian kangaroo money notes. Part of the challenge is finding a car lot sketchy enough to accept them (saying they're Canadian is allowed).

Pretty much anything American with a 3-speed auto and a carb for maximum misery. Preferably from the late 70s-early 80s, with vinyl seats and no A/C. Or if the show is to be entertaining, any one of the many botched SBC/SBF swaps available on Craigslist with the goal of making it do
