From AP-GfK Poll: Majority of Americans fear Trump presidency posted by freeper Hojczyk

the article posted:

More than half the country fears a Trump presidency. And only about a third of Americans believe he is at least somewhat qualified to serve in the White House.
[...]
Trump undoubtedly has a passionate base of support, seen clearly among the thousands of backers who fill the stands at his signature rallies. But most people don't share that fervor. Only 29 percent of registered voters would be excited and just 24 percent would be proud should Trump prevail in November.
[...]
Only one in four voters find him even somewhat civil or compassionate, and just a third say he's not at all racist.
[...]
"We as Americans should be embarrassed about Donald Trump," said Michael DeLuise, 66, a retired university vice president and registered Republican who lives in Eugene, Oregon. "We as Americans have always been able to look at the wacky leaders of other countries and say 'Phew, that's not us.' We couldn't if Trump wins. It's like putting P.T. Barnum in charge. And it's getting dangerous."

"Well I don't like the numbers they put out so they are clearly wrong about everything"

Just in time for the debate I see. They’re in total panic right now. Honestly, I believe the lefties all thought Bush or Cruz would be the nominee. Right now it's audio only, so I transcribed this section starting at the five minute mark.

the interview posted:

Mr. Arno: It's a militia group, and should martial law, or civil war, or whatever break out in this country they will uphold the constitution and rebuild our laws.

Inskeep: What war do you mean?

[uncomfortable pause with throat clearing]

Mr. Arno: The war that's gonna take place when Hillary Clinton is elected [unintelligible]

Inskeep: What sort of a war would that be?

Mrs. Arno: Your patriots...

Mr. Arno: Your patriots are gonna overthrow the government.

Inskeep: Now to be clear, the Arnos say they have no plans whatever to start a war, but if some sort of chaos should ever come, they mean for their family to be ready.

This was the section I woke up to this morning.

As I see it, Trump is gonna have to walk a fine line tonight.

he’ll have to poke and prod Hillary a bit (to get her riled up) but if he pokes too hard, Hillary will play the “Woman” card and somehow infer that Trump was being misogynistic and aggressive to her - thus making him not femal friendly and un-Presidential.

There is a precedent for this. Back in 2000, her and Rick Lazio were holding a debate for the US Senate race in NY. Lazio went after her (to me justifiably) but Hillary spun it as Lazio was being demeaning and aggressive to her.

And trust me, if Hillary doesn’t say it or infer it, the MSM will. The double standard suck a great deal - but it is one that Trump will have to deal with.

And if Hillary can’t even manage to take advantage of the stacked deck? Why, then it will me the “it was a draw” meme and “there are still two more debates” meme.

The MSM hates Trump, the MSM controls the debates and the post debate narrative. Why would one expect a result other than a pre-arranged one.

(What the MSM doesn’t realize is that even their ambush won’t change the outcome of this election)

Hillary can win the debate on every point they judge debates on and it WON’T win her one more vote...

Trump just needs to come across as reasonable.. and as much as the media and the left hate it, when the deliver is unfiltered by their spin, Trumps message is reasonable to most people. The media try to spin it as not, but when someone sees what Trump has said fully and in context, most people are fine with it.

Trump needs to just look reasonable, that’s it. He does that, he wins, no matter how many “points” Hillary may score...

My advice to Trump, is just let her talk... the more she talks the worse she looks... respond in kind to any attacks, but just let her drone on and wonk up anything she wants. Hillary is inauthentic, so the more she’s talking the more the public will conclude that...

it would be easy for trump to have a half dozen one-liners memorized in his prep.

the way to take out hillary is to make the first move.

trump should just let loose a humorous but good taste zinger aimed at hillary.

as reader’s digest says, humor is the best medicine. humor will knock hillary off balance for the remainder of the debate.

something inocuous... maybe about how she tends to drone on and bore her audiences on wonky policy issues, eg “i was for TPP before I was against it, though now I am undecided (wink wink)...”

Rather than focus so much on Hillary herself, the rotten individual, it would behoove us to remind ourselves of what it is that she represents. She is more a symbol of something that is obviously much larger than her decrepit self. She represents climate change, baby parts, big money/power Globalists, 50 million missing U.S. citizens. Socialism, feminazism, Alinsky, imprisonment of county clerks, Christian bashing,....... So many things that have receded like so many cockroaches of late but that will return two-fold if her ilk should prevail. The followers of her cult wear blinders. Hate feeds her and her kind. Trump might point out the irony of that.

“Moderator” only asks Trump hard questions. It’s a set up deal.

We have an experienced lawyer/politician class and Trump is a businessman. He needs to speak plainly and pivot from the personal attacks to how it relates.

“Hey, if you’re a small business owner and you’re fed up with the IRS, I’ve been there. I can relate. I know how these regulations and taxes effect a business owner because I am one.”

He’s getting lost in the weeds a bit.

quote:

A draw. No major knockout on either side. Trump stood up for himself when necessary. I don't think it will move the needle, and Krauthammer made a good observation: Draws usually go to the challenger, and that is Donald Trump.

If I were to advise Trump, it would consist of the following:

1) Complete your sentences. You are giving the audience too much credit for figuring out what you mean when you shoot off two or three words.

2) Stop repeating the same point 5 or 6 times. You are wasting time.

3) Speak less to broad concepts and more to the common man.

4) Affability matters. Reagan won on affability. Smile a little more, but not with that forced weird smile Hillary plastered on most of the debate. Also, an affable Reaganesque "There you go again"-style phrase, queued up and ready to go when appropriate, would work wonders.

5) Next time, don't leave those hanging slow pitches unswatted. For example, when Hillary talks about your charity, mention her Clinton Foundation that only gives out 6% of it's money to charitable works. Also, speak more about how Hillary is the DC Establishment, and you are there to challenge that. Many people will identify that as a key takeaway.

On the whole I give Hillary high marks, and Trump close but not as good. Stylistically Hillary did very well, but in content Trump nailed it a few times.

However, he needs to take a reality check and prepare more in a structured debate setting. Obama had a HORRIBLE first debate and came back strong. Trump wasn’t horrible, but he needs to come back strong. I know he can do it.

Hillary's delivery sounded to me like a girl in a school play overacting the part of a female villain. Donald came across as a righteous underdog.

By the sixth or seventh debate he'll have it in the bag.

I never expected Trump to “Destroy” Hillary Clinton, she is a career politician, she has been doing this her whole life, she learned from her husband how to LIE and LIE and LIE and say it with a straight face..Trump has been doing this for 1 year..he did fine, could have done better but he made some really good points and he will improve with every debate

Yes, but it’s called preparation. She was prepared for the questions in standard politician-speak, Trump was his usual self...no surprises. She didn’t cough or pass out and he didn’t come unglued and successfully countered (though I agree he had a few slow pitches he could have nailed and didn’t) and seemed measured for the most part. A draw at worse, a win for Trump because he didn’t call her crooked Hillary (though I must admit I wouldn’t have minded it). He did what he had to do. Think of it from the perspective that there may have been up to 100 million people watching, many of which this would have been their first actual view of Trump relative to the evil stories they’ve been hearing from the media over the past year.

yes my friends and family all agree she had the questions and answers prepared in advance, like an actor. Trump answered his questions like a normal human.

Hillary was the better debater but Trump won the debate. WHY? only two things will be remembered in a week...

Hillary 30 failed years a politician with a smooth lying tongue.

Trump a businessman with common sense, gets results, says it like it is.

Yes. She knew the questions, but she also has prepped answers knowing in general what’ll be brought up.

She did this with an earlier debate. Anderson Cooper asked her a surprisingly tough question and the audience laughed nervously. Hillary went immediately into a prepared answer, unhumanlike.

There’s something alien or Westworld-ish about her whole essence. She really hates people and is fake.

I would lean towards “yes” since they do use criminality to win.

If you look at most online polls for tonight’s debate the public’s enthusiasm for Trump can be seen. He’s winning several including the Time poll.

She lost in likeability and that is huge.

Everything Hillary hit Trump with he’s already been hit with 24/7 for months on end. They are not knock out blows.

Lester Holt is a total liberal puppet. I've watched him a long time and it's been obvious. NBC is an all-out subsidiary of the Democrat Party. It was a total "gotcha" set-up against Trump. Absolutely there was collusion.

But in fairness, Trump missed a number of golden opportunities. Hope he gets more focused next time.

she’s a smooth, professional politician. Donald was rough around the edges by comparison. All she had to do was keep that patina up through the evening and she won the “image” contest (ala Kennedy vs Nixon).

Hillary on style points. A draw on substance (with lean to Donald) IMHO

Didn’t have to be NBC or Lester who tipped Hillary off on the questions.. Hillary’s BFF 0blama has SOME PRETTY POWERFUL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS (NSA, CIA, FBI, DHS, ETC.) to EAVESDROP on phone calls, emails, and even in-person conversations to GET THE DEBATE QUESTIONS FOR HILLARY!

They can't even agree if Trump won or Hillary cheated and screwed him.

Abuela just tore his heart out and showed it to him on live tv, man, it was great.

I know nothing about this, and thought probably they both were given a list of possible questions beforehand. No?
