Cythereal posted:The ironic thing is, porn aside Playboy historically has been a distinctly progressive publication for anyone who actually reads the articles. They stopped with the porn because they realized this is the internet era, they simply can't compete with the internet's limitless supply of free porn. Seriously, go buy some old Playboys. Issues from the 1960s and 1970s are only a few bucks, especially if you find them at flea markets. It's almost difficult to find the porn in them because the magazines are 95% interviews, editorials, letters, movie and restaurant reviews, etc. The nude pictures get a small section shoved into the middle. The issue I picked up at a flea market had an interview with John Lindsay, the Republican mayor of New York City at the time of publication. It's startling to see how incredibly different the Republican party was back then compared to now. Lindsay comes off as a moderate Democrat by modern standards, supporting black-owned businesses in Harlem and coming off as a very reasonable conservative. The same issue had letters from homosexuals talking about the harassment they got from cops (this was I think just a few months or a few years before Stonewall) and slyly suggesting that some of the undercover officers propositioning them to lure them into an arrest were repressed gay men themselves. Old Playboys are a brilliant look at the culture of their time, and it's a shame they get discarded with a reputation as just useless porn.

Playboy still very much veers in the direction of rather serious, though quirky content, large interviews still being a big thing. Also for anyone who hasn't heard they no longer feature full-frontal nudity (rather correctly noting that it is rather outplayed in the internet age, and was a rather small part which did too much to define the magazine in public perception anyway).

The only thing that makes me calm down a bit after reading their disgusting rants is that I know that they come from fear. The world is not obeying the script they expect it to, those they consider subhuman are not sitting back anymore, their heroes are starting to be exposed for the monsters they are, and we are on track to one of their most hated enemies becoming the first woman president. They are losing, shrinking into irrelevance slowly but surely, and these old bastards can only watch in the miserable pits they made for themselves. I seem to recall a common sentiment in Freep threads where people respect Stormfront and other actual Nazis marginally more than Freep because at least those hatful fucks have the guts to be honest about what they believe in. Still doesn't make them role models by any means, but still, if literal Nazis are somehow better perceived than you are, it's time for self-reflection.

The funnies thing is that they never manage to learn from it: they'll repeat the exact same behaviors later and still just as amazed that reality didn't warp itself to make them always right even though they wished really hard for it.

She had it all in advance, she had a headset, she used hand signals... really? Why would she need either of the other two if she had any one of those things? Seems one of the guys I work with is a crazy freeper. Everything he doesn't want Hillary to win for he wants to vote for Trump. "She's a liar and a scamming pis, that's why she shouldn't be pres" Ok, so Trump lying repeatedly, most recently denying quotes he said just a few months ago at the debates and the whole stop and frisk thing which all just scratches the surface is ok. Trump not paying people, using his charity as a personal wallet to spend money, lying about and refusing to release his tax returns is ok. His blatant racism, sexism, and his inability to handle sensitive situations without being a loudmouthed dick is ok. You don't want Hillary in office because she's got people blowing smoke over Benghazi and her foundation and she lies, but you'll gladly vote in someone six times worse? Of course I didn't get to say all of that at once because he kept cutting in to yack some nuh uh like Donald does before walking away to "clock out". VitalSigns posted:

From Clinton is now beating Trump in 5 must-win battleground states posted by freper ChicagoConservative27 It's a news article about today's post-debate PPP results. Clinton is up by 2-6 points in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. In each of those states, 51-54% of respondents said Clinton won the debate, while only 30-35% say Trump won. For under-30s, Hillary was declared the debate winner by up to ten points more, and has a corresponding bump in the likelyhood of voting for her, but this varies wildly per state. The more interesting numbers are the questions "Is this candidate prepared to be president?" at 37/55 Trump/Clinton, "Does this candidate have the temperament to be President" at 37/52 Trump/Clinton, and "Can this candidate be trusted with nukes?" at 40/52 Trump/Clinton. Trump is also considered the more likely risk to start a nuclear war, at 50 vs 30 for Hillary. quote:To: ChicagoConservative27 Meanwhile, freep doesn't understand that there are more registered Democrats. In part the whole RINO/GOPe thing driving Tea Partiers to split with the Republican party despite always voting for them and in part the fact that voting drives are a big deal these days and college students, among other demographics affected by them, are much more likely to register Democratic, especially this year when a bunch of people registered for the primaries.

this debate is really the gift that keeps on givingquote:I think that box inside the podium was a special relay receiver/transmitter designed to defeat jamming attempts. If the channel they were using detected interference, it would automatically shift to another channel. Only a broad-band jamming device would have been able to knock out the signal.
