I feel like strategically NaVi did everything they needed to earn that victory, mostly: 1) Scooping up S1mple so they can counter-strat liquid 2) Saving Nuke for Semifinals/SK This feels like the good NaVi, the way they used to be when they'd just show up and annihilate everyone

looking at the vods VP looked really tired by the last map. Grand finals need to be on a different day dammit (and that's how majors work at least). Top 3 looks to be deadlocked right now, though. VP, SK and NaVi are just on another level when they turn up

Final on a day by itself makes a lot of sense, VP must have been mentally pasted and I can remember the same happening another tournament. At the same time with only 3 maps in one day that's a lot of time to kill. In the majors there's the joke match to eat into some of that which is better than dubstep but its still stuff no one cares about.

There's no way to do that in one day unless half of the matches happen off-screen.

It's too bad the Islanders had a hockey game or we might have been able to have Sunday Grand Finals or something. I have a feeling we'll keep seeing these "squeezes" though, I love how they always act so surprised that it's running pass midnight

it didn't need to be a squeeze, there was way too much padding in between matches on sunday the format was fine and the only way to fit it all into 3 days without playing any matches simultaneously/offstream is to have the semis and finals in the same day. If finals are going to get their own day, then I am of the opinion that it should be a BO5 final. I think the swiss format is pretty good but it does have some inherent unfairness to it when it doesn't work out cleanly, like liquid at 1-2 having to play an elimination game vs fnatic who were 2-1, and also the luck of who you get paired up against when there's 4 2-2 teams. fnatic ended up having to play a rematch of the exact team they had just lost to on the exact same map (though I guess you can argue that if you lose twice to a team on the same map then you don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway). overall probably more fair than the GSL system though.
