Harambe has been the only new meme I don't hate, just because it's constantly changing and seems to exist solely to piss off the people who insist on hating it more vocally than the ones pushing it

Its not an A-10 gun run but its still pretty awesome. Surely they could have come up with this poo poo sooner and moved on to something new by now. It makes me think that we are collectively the dumb kid in the third row who always took a little too long to process the joke and start laughing, then laughed far too long over it.

What's he got going on with his optics there?

Eotech with 3x flip to side magnifier.

Huh, never saw one in the wild when I was in. Curious: what's that like optical error wise? Obviously it's cumulative but is it as bad as it sounds, or negligible for M4 work?

Eotech got reamed by the government in court last year over their claimed accuracy vs reality. They literally offered a full refund for purchase price to anyone who had EVER ordered one of their holosights. Apparently temperature shifts caused significant deviations. I didn't bother because I've never noticed and frankly I don't shoot my AR enough to care.

The extreme temperature ranges included normal temperatures in Afghanistan and Iraq iirc, which is why it was a big deal

not caring here posted:Huh, never saw one in the wild when I was in. There's parallax but that's typical. Honestly I don't recommend an Eotech for anyone after all the battery contact issues, battery leaking issues on the XPS models and then the thermal drift. If you aren't paying for it and it's issued, you can use a standard Aimpoint magnifier and QD twist or the pictured Samson FTS mount for longer range shooting, but it's never going to be a sniper rifle optic (nor is that its purpose)

Were these aimpoint deviations that having more heart would've negated?

The Eotech that was on my service rifle was super fuzzy, ate batteries, and was simply too big and clunky. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about it: it didn't get me killed but now I know that I'll never plunk down my own cash for one.

I wish the eotechs didn't have all those problems because I really liked the concept and big viewing area compared to an aimpoint, it was nice having the optic not obscure much of what you're aiming at.

The nature of the holographic reticle is that it's always going to be fuzzy, especially if you have an astigmatism. The "donut of death" is super fast for getting on target in a high stress situation, but they simply aren't as rugged as the aimpoints. Trijicon has been trying to go after Aimpoint's market share for a while and failing miserably with each iteration (TriPower, SRS, MRO). They just revealed a new MG reflex sight that's similar to the eotech - http://soldiersystems.net/2016/10/03/ausa-trijicon-machine-gun-reflex-sight/ so who knows how well it will work. Basically though, when Aimpoint releases the AA powered Micro that is in quiet use in various .gov agencies, it's going to own. If Aimpoint could ever figure out a large retical, it'll be amazing.

The Elcan C79 would be nice if the mount wasn't loose. I can feel it wobble around whenever I handle my rifle, and that's being as careful as I can be to not touch the optic.

Buddy guy you know better than that. That's not the optic's fault. That's "CAF has no money for weapons techs".
