Clinton basically adopted his platform wholesale for the GE, so it's a moot point. But the advantage now is that because Clinton has positioned herself as a centrist for so long, adopting Sanders' platform is shifting the Overton window to the left by quite a bit.

I don't know how progressive Hillary is on the inside. It's just not something we can truly know, and honestly, I think pretty much every politician has one or two big issues they care about, a few small issues they have opinions about, and a bunch that they're ambivalent about and just follow the lead of the rest of the party. My gut feeling is that Clinton's #1 issue, the one that's near and dear to her heart, is destroying the Republican Party. So if Democrats who vote want progressive, she'll be progressive. If students might actually show up if she promises to do something about tuition, she'll make that an issue. I don't think it's impossible that she'll do some centrist stuff, but I think it will always be part of an agenda to dismantle the Republican Party.

I know a lot of people have expressed concern that Trump might not concede if he loses but I thought of an even more absurd scenario - If, before the results even start being announced, he walks out onto the stage to the cheers of his huge election day crowd and starts giving a victory speech. I don't even know how Hillary and the Dems, Pence/Ryan/Priebus, and the media would react to that.

Sanders put himself in a position where compromising on anything would likely have sent a chunk of his supporters spiraling out of control regardless, but the added youth and independent vote would have made up for it. The bigger question for me if he and his campaign team would have his poo poo together enough to capitalize on Trump. Trump certainly has done a lot of damage to himself, but Hillary and her election team have helped him along significantly. I don't know if everyone on Hillary's team now would be working with Bernie, or if they would have stayed home, or what. I don't think Bernie can goad and bait Trump the way Hillary can, and I don't know if he would have been able to provoke Trump into many of the mistakes he ultimately ended up making. I do know that a general election campaign run by Jeff Weaver would be a giant disaster, though, and given he couldn't even follow through on the one request his Our Revolution people had (please please please don't make us work with Jeff Weaver) he shoved him in there anyway and ruined the whole thing, I can't imagine him benching Weaver out for the general. It's all speculation, though. We have no way of knowing and never will, and at this point it's irrelevant.

I legitimately think that Hillary Clinton's big issue is women's rights, which is totally toxic in today's political environment. If anything, I think this is why she seems so ambivalent about pretty much everything else in a political kind of way

Portman outflanked him by getting a handful of unions to endorse him, and Strickland responded by disparaging the unions in question. That got recorded by an attendee and went to all the Free Beacon / Red State / Breitbart sites. So if this is indeed true, what's the impact on the Dems' chances of seizing the Senate?
