Surprisingly accurate.

That and spending 50 levels with freedom of movement to suddenly becoming a full caster is dumb as poo poo from a design and player satisfaction perspective. Yes, but you're missing that the point is that it feels less enjoyable. To me, personally. And to many other people judging from the usual responses I've seen about it. If it is less enjoyable then I would prefer to enjoy it more and would like to be different, like when I was enjoying it previously. Something can be perfectly mechanically effective and not be fun. :what:

That's fine and all, but also it goes the other way. I don't see the issues. The ability has not impacted my enjoyment of the class. It's still highly mobile, even though you do indeed need to adapt to it. I don't consider turning Minuet off to DPS on the move as lost damage, but do consider keeping it on and doing absolutely nothing on the move as lost damage. Being extremely briefly locked out of the exclusive actions, assuming Empyreal has even come off cooldown, doesn't mean anything if you don't have the time to use them anyway.

Reiterpallasch posted:

dropping minuet in many circumstances means not being able to iron jaws, which is such an unimaginably huge dps loss that you're honestly better off doing 0 damage on another gcd if you have to

 Learn the fights and reapply before it becomes an issue? See above. If you absolutely need to move your rear end, you're not using Iron Jaws at that moment anyway. It's seriously not a problem to Iron Jaws before mechanic, drop Minuet, move while Heavy Shotting, and reapplying Minuet when in the clear. Your DoTs are still snapshotted with Minuets bonus.

Yes, ideally you should never have to drop Minuet. Learning fights and figuring out the best places to stand and when to stand there is part of the class now. But there are still instances where dropping Minuet, or using Feint, is nothing but a gain. Sophia arena tips are a good recent one. She's not invulnerable during those times, but you cannot get casts off. Instant attacks are still allowed to hurt her.

That's not true. You still have Heavy Thrust to maintain, and Leg Sweep and Life Surge for ogcds. Impulse Drive Hell sucks, but it's not that bad.

please don't black mage is arguably the game's worst class about "cast these spells in a specific order or else you'll lose enochian and your vr helmet will fry your brain and you'll die irl"

As a BLM main I've generally found that it's not that bad to keep up Enochian once you know the fight as long as you're willing to do stuff like refresh it a third time if you're about to be unable to hit the boss (boss goes invuln or you have to move). I'm leveling DRG and I've found Blood on the Dancefloor to be way more annoying since you have to be in melee range and if you drop the combo you've got to restart it (unlike Enochian where you can just B3 -> B4).

Also, it baffles me how during the Plasma Shield phase of A11, they decided to make Cruise Chaser 'semi-invulnerable' (triggers on-hit effects, but takes 0 damage from everything) but the Plasma Shield completely invulnerable (doesn't refresh on-hit).

BLM is a class that gets significantly better the more you know a fight. I've found myself unconsciously going to my leylines spots and parking myself there even when I'm playing healer :v:

Minuet sucks and I don't like stance dancing - I do it with AST because otherwise I just get bored - but I still really enjoy playing a bard. Even if I can't stand the look of bows that try and double as harps. Gandiva in particular looks unwieldy as gently caress.

One neat trick to make low level Lancer more tolerable is get a few levels of Archer for Straight Shot and Raging Strikes. This gives you a few extra buttons to press to stave off the boredom of Impulse Drive spam.

Also if you have rogue at 42 or higher you can actually cross-class Death Blossom as a lancer for some much-needed AOE.

Thinking about it, I wish that LLDR could be split into 15-29 and 30+ so that I could have a reason to take off my job stone sometimes.

The implementation of Wanderer's Minuet for Bard isn't as good as Machinist, so I agree with this wholeheartedly.

Also, to all the people who are still upset about it, consider that it is very difficult to balance around a DPS class that can do 100% of its damage on the move. Wanderer's Minuet is a good and necessary change to the game.

I'm hoping beyond hope they remove Enochian in 4.0, but I know what'll actually happen will be this:

quote:

Level 65

Thunder IV:

Cast: 4s
Deals Lightning Damage with a Potency of 120, can only be executed under the effect of Enochian
Additional Effect: Lightning Damage over time
Potency: 80 Duration: 0 (will overwrite the current Thunder debuff on the enemy but retain the current amount of time left.)
Additional Effect: All the Thundercloud poo poo.

Level 70

Improved Thundercloud:

Thunder IV now cast under the effect of Thundercloud will now add a full duration Thunder debuff to the enemy.
