I know winning the House is a pipe dream but it would be so satisfying. Obama took office with a Dem majority in both houses, and Republicans spent every waking moment feeding their base the most vitriolic racist deplorable bile they could produce and made it their life's mission to see to it that the uppity black president didn't get his way. It paid dividends in 2010, but they refused to stop feeding their base their toxic rhetoric until the base fully digested it and shat out Trump, whose impending catastrophic loss threatens to completely destroy every bit of power Republicans have in Congress. To take the House would return the layout of Congress to what it was in 2008 and tell the Republicans that everything they've done for the last 8 years, that violent opposition that ultimately ruined their party, has been for loving NOTHING. And unlike in 2008, no one has any illusions about the magic wonder of bipartisanship. poo poo's gonna get signed in Republican blood.

And that one handed DB for 49000ers, I think his name was Imbroglio Laser Justice, it's bullshit that tackles count even if he uses just one arm. It's an unfair advantage. It you are a one armed player you should have to play offense.

Okay, just playing with scenarios, here's a map where 270 EVs are secured before you get as far west as Texas:

http://www.270towin.com/maps/mNbEO

Of course if any of the states were really close they wouldn't call them until late, and by then the West Coast Hammer of Justice (along with CO, NV, and NM) would have descended as soon as polls closed there and put it to rest.

If I recall Florida took literally days to report in 2012, both from lovely vote suppression causing huge lines in Miami Dade until like 3AM, the race being really close there, and whatever system they use to count.

Edit: You almost HAVE to win TX to get to 400 EVs, although winning SC, AZ AND IN would get you there, just barely.

"Ryan is still endorsing Trump" (and he is, he's just not defending him now)

With even just a 40-50% drag on the GOP, maybe 30% depending on heavy ticket splitting, that is catastrophic for the Congressional Republicans. If Trump actually goes to war with the GOP because they're going to try to save their majorities in Congress it could get even worse for them.

(without more bombshells it might taper off but still, unless Trump mounts the comeback to end all comebacks :fork:)

US courts ruled against Native Americans? There's a loving shock. Let me tell you how surprised I am that the US courts ruled against natives, especially in favor of a corporation.

Probably not, but he should. The GOP basically got to stall the nomination in case a Republican won the WH, and then if they lose they still get the compromise candidate Obama offered them.

(And yes, on age alone, Garland was a compromise and everyone knows that especially Obama and Garland.)

No he shouldn't. Taking back the nomination at any point 100% vindicates the GOP's stance and sets a precedent that Obama fundamentally does not agree with.

There's an article from way back that has him lapsing sort of philosophical on the marginal utility of money, which I assume guides a lot of his views regarding the role of taxation as a redistributive social good and charitable donations as the next best usage of money as excess tax would either go to the public debt or just be refunded or put toward the next year.

Basically yes while he gets his money from normal capitalist avarice, what he does with it is deeply in line with a belief that you can't take your money with you to the grave and spending it all while alive is dumb since capitalism ought to cause money to gravitate to its most productive use and hiring someone to paint pictures of you all day is not as productive as having a road built or funding cancer research.

The house is in play, dude. It was a pipe dream. Was; past tense.

The pipe dreams of today are sub 40% Trump vote, flipping Texas, and Donald J Trump being able to let a woman talk uninterrupted.

This is why the Obama administration actions on sovereign consultation was such a big deal. Even if the tribe loses the case the Obama administration has stopped the pipeline on federal lands until a review of the consultation process can take place. This has the real potential to put in place rulings that improve tribal voices in federal decision making and stop this or future projects.
