Kingdom Death Monsters is a board game that I wish was better than it apparently ended up being. The idea of a monster hunter style multiplayer board game with modular figures for your crafted armor and weapons sounded neat and the figure quality was pretty cool but it really just ended up being a lot of weird gore/tits/both and from what I've heard it had some townbuilding elements slapped on and the game overall just wasn't fun and was more or less an excuse to sell expensive figures (some cool, some not) Like, some of it is cool, like these And then some is just not Kingdom Death posted:So great was Satan’s self-obsession that it split into twin hermaphrodite lovers to share the world with itself. They roam Kingdom Death, drunk with self-lust and power, trapped by their own vanity in fragile human frames. Their armor of living tongues shares the taste of the world between the twins. Satan is a vicious masochist, poisoning the minds of any it comes across. The pair is well hated by other entities, as they only seek to disrupt balance for their own satisfaction.

CAPTAIN CAPSLOCK posted:You are mistaking complaining with mocking. People are mocking the game, Chris Roberts and the backers. No, people understand that just fine. It's just that mock threads are unilaterally terrible because once they burn through the handful of actual funny things to mock it becomes a bunch of people stalking and harassing everyone involved with the thing they're mocking in between reciting the same handful of "jokes" over and over in increasingly humorless and angry tones. That's how over the course of three years you go from having a good laugh over people pledging thousands of dollars on non-existent space ships in a game that doesn't exist to assembling the entire timeline of the life of one man who works for the game's company while going on witch hunts to purge the totally existent and malicious spies from other forums trying to get in the way of you continuing to repeat that people arepledging thousands of dollars on non-existent space ships in a game that doesn't exist.

Star Citizen just had a big convention for their whales where they were set to show something of the single player thing they were supposed to launch this year (after delaying it from last year) and apparently so little of it is ready that they showed literally nothing of it. Not even a trailer or cutscene let alone a single in game second of the single player campaign. $125 million dollars. They did show off some footage from their multiplayer part which is even further from completion than the single player part and a bunch of the AI NPCs didn't know how to move, they just stood there like turrets. But they had a very polished advertisement for a $750 ship that requires more crew than they can fit in an instance in their broken multiplayer alpha. $125 million! And that's why Star Citizen maintains a huge mock thread.

I'm sorry, that should be $128 million because the $750 ship sold millions worth to whales.

Yeah this seems about right- things are genuinely funny at first because people are spending thousands of dollars on spaceships that may or may not ever exist and insisting that THE GAME IS COMING OUT AND WILL BE THE BEST THING EVER and Gary Oldman looks like he's making a duckface in CG and oh man ha ha what dorky fake space videogame weirdo folly doth proceed in this sphere but then yeah you kind of run out of things to say eventually; just how things are

Funnily enough, running out of fresh things to say doesn't just magically turn someone's opinion of something into a neutral, non-affected gray.

oddium posted:should i play it if i haven't played the first. is the epic catmancer actually good A few pages back, but you should probably play the first one beforehand because Second is a direct sequel and there are several instances of "OH YEAH REMEMBER THIS THING THAT HAPPENED TWO YEARS AGO???" Catmancer is like a lovely blue mage, there's like 13 total abilities you can learn from monsters, you have to use certain consumables to use the abilities, and none of them are that useful. I'm glad some people like Second but man is it boring the poo poo out of me, I've just been mainly playing just to get to the end at this point and I don't care about any of the characters at all. I started and finished one of the Dragon Quest games in between taking a break from playing it. I think my most enjoyment so far was from maxing out the cookie clicker minigame.

Traded in some old stuff and got DQ Builderbergers. It's really very good and super cute. The only thing that sucks is your dude moves so slow which really puts a damper on the fun of going far away and exploring. It's a lot cleaner to play than Minecraft was when I tried it, it's closer to Don't Starve in how easy it is to keep track of things and make things and so forth.

It was not a very good game in retrospect but 6 year old me did not recognize this. The title is still funny to me though because it purports to be the sequel to the movie. There is no "Goonies 1" NES game. Few pages back, but there actually *was* a Goonies 1 game for the Famicom. It actually got a limited American release on the Playchoice 10 and as Vs. The Goonies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zruCkeTDFb8
