Unfunny Poster posted:How is everyone's video gaming this fine October? Good! I picked up Stardew Valley and it's as good as I was afraid it would be, as now I can't stop playing it - well, I did stop one evening to boot up Darkest Dungeon for some spooky gaming, because what's October without being creeped out by videogames? I read some spoilers on the story in Darkest Dungeon and it's moved from being atmospheric eldritch-style horrors to a more dread-inducing SIREN-esque "oh god" everytime I play it, which is both fantastic and stressful - I can't play very much of it at once without needing to hug my cats.

So apparently in Yakuza: Kiwami (Yakuza 1 remake) Majima can just sort of pop up anywhere and attack you. Dressed as a police officer, driving the cab you're in, hiding under a giant traffic cone, popping out of a sewer, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPC4R0dIQ6A The more I learn about this series the more I love it

I'm very tired. Not enough sleep the night before last because I stayed up to late playing DQB. Last night my roommates using the bathroom fan woke me up at 3am. Alcohol withdrawal. Joint pain. general exhaustion. It's a weird time for me when I'm in an okay place mentally but a bad place physically. I'll take what I can get though. I'm finally watching Stranger Things, which I'm enjoying a lot more than I expected to from hype. This weekend is not cool or good because I have an assignment due at 10pm on Sunday. Which is a group assignment. Which we haven't started on.

It's pretty awesome

Golden Goat posted:Learning to work as a team is trash. It's important but some of the lessons you learn - like that there's such a thing as good teams, where people have compatible personalities and skills to shore up one another's weaknesses, and bad teams, where they don't - can come at the cost of grades. That hurts if you're, say, on an academic scholarship.

Yeah like, even in the worst case scenario, the lesson that you learn is how to cope with a really bad team. At least in theory. I tend to just shut down and start contributing to the problem. I'm not sure that's how "if you can't beat em, join em" is supposed to be applied.

No, more like half the team hosed off and never did their part, and there's not much you can do in a group assignment when one or more people are dedicated to not giving a poo poo. In one of my college classes we had a semester-long group assignment. By the end of the semester everyone in my group except me had dropped the class.

corn in the bible posted:lol if you need multiple drafts for an undergraduate college assignment I mean, I don't... I'm in a class right now where basic academic skills are so low that half of our class didn't finish the mid-term. We had an 75 minutes to take a 12 page exam. Complaints included "I spent 40 minutes reading the first page!" and "10 minutes left? I'm on page 3!!" No basic test taking skills at all. This is a 3000 level class, so it's for like, Juniors and Seniors. People in the class couldn't accept the concept of subjective grading. It was nuts. I thought I was in bizarro world. it turns out that's just what the college of engineering is like.

I don't even see 90% of each areas, because I just go straight for the shortcuts. Which is cool, because the bosses are the best parts, but... it's still different than the exploration aspect the first time or two...
