Yeah that is the post I responded to. What is your point? Acknowledging the theme does not equal missing the metaphor. It was two people talking about the social media part of the show and you popped in like "wake up sheeple it's about class!" Give me a break dude.

To get away from whatever this is, I watched Meek's Cutoff. Probably the slowest paced western I've ever seen, but it really drives home the drudgery of pioneer travel. The night scenes are usually entirely in the dark, save for a single lantern in some scenes. You really feel how interminable the real-life journey must have been. There's not much action or score, but there are a couple tense moments. Bruce Greenwood kinda steals the show as the fast-talking guide, Meek, who was a real guide into Oregon during the era.

Yo is anyone else watching this new Hulu show, Chance? Hugh Laurie plays a somewhat anti-social doctor, whose life is somewhat of a mess. Aside from that and some similar cinematic decisions it's almost completely nothing like House. I'm really enjoying it. mild spoilers, if only because I think it's best to go into the show blind It swerves hard from the medical aspect into noir vigilante (almost superhero-y) poo poo, with heavy moral and ethical overtones. Just to put a capstone on this whole discussion, Community is on Hulu and if you want a lighter take on the same subject matter watch s5e8 "App Development and Condiments" to see the idea of rating people with a smart phone app leading to a fun Logan's Run parody. And also to see the producer of Academy Award for Best Animated Feature nominee Anomalisa dressed up like Sean Connery in Zardoz.

I've been side-eying Cleverman on Netflix for a while and kept putting it off because the summary sounded awful. Finally got around to starting it tonight and it's an Aussie series which actually features very heavily into the racial divide between Aboriginals and white settlers. A lot of the racial stuff is really on the nose in the first episode, but it quickly gets muddied. SIr Jorah Mormont is featured heavily, as well as what I assume are a lot of local actors. The "hairy" thing is really weird for the first episode and then it seems to be used a lot more gracefully and subtly, and there's some Aboriginal magic as well as mumbo jumbo about the hairy people, as well as your typical X-Men style internment camps and conspiracies. The "Cleverman" is apparently some kind of mythical figure in aboriginal lore, who's able to walk the line between dreams and waking, and act as a conduit for people on both sides. It got picked up for a second season a couple months ago.

New season of Black Mirror was good, though kinda sloppy in places. Interesting that they're moving a little away from the faceless antagonists who win at the end. They still have it, like the first episode and the blackmail one, but the bee robot guy was literally being hunted at the end and the video game guy was straight up an accident.

They did know about interactions with the game and phones, but it was his fault for turning it on. Realistically, they should have (and probably would have IRL) just taken his phone before he even entered the room, but you need some drama.

Yeah, I was surprised that the cell phone being there and available to him wasn't part of the game or something, or that didn't purposefully gently caress him up because they saw him taking the picture. Not that being surprised is a problem, but I'm not sure what the point is then. Presumably it relates to the connection they suggested to turning off phones on airplanes, but I found that hard to read as well. (Black Mirror season 3 "Playtest" spoilers)

It is a funny movie, but the ads were seriously some of the biggest bull-poo poo bait-and-switch from "Spy Movie" to "Screwball Comedy". That said, it's one of the most Coen-esque Coen Bros movie, with not a single character knowing what the gently caress is going on, absurdity invading mundane life, and graphic violence coming out of nowhere. It's definitely a movie that grows in enjoyment with each viewing.

The African Queen, Ravenous, Paddington, and Cujo are the best of the incoming. I also did like Ghost Team because it is so weird. The Addams Family Almost Famous Angel Heart The 'Burbs Deliverance E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Equilibrium Major League Rounders Shameless, seasons 1-10 Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Spy Game ...are some of the ones leaving.

Most Coen Bros movies are tough to accurately portray in trailers and ads, because they have such a unique and bizarre tone. Almost all of them are seriously funny in parts, and just as disturbing in others. Hollywood advertising people have always had a really tough time with black comedy, see also: The Cable Guy and Death to Smoochy.
