Bongripper are the closest in terms of their sound. I'd also recommend Black Boned Angel though they're much more drone/noise flavored doom.

I actually don't think Bongripper, or even most other stoner/doom bands are very similar to Yob in terms of songwriting and the riffing style. Neurosis are probably closer.

e: Shallow Grave are sort of similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTCtRq7w15A

Songwriting and riffing I would agree are not very similar, it's the sound/guitar tone that makes me think of those bands.

New Anaal track. Awesome guitar sound, rather odd high-vocals but hell, I like it. This album is shaping up pretty nicely from what's been released so far.

Here's a link, tried to find a direct soundcloud one, but i'm not a clever man.

Hail Spirit Noir's new album Mayhem in Blue is now streaming in full:

It's weird as poo poo, as their usual stuff is, but also somehow good, as their usual stuff is.

Not sure I like it more than Oi Magoi yet, but it's a solid album nonetheless.

The Spellcaster blurb completely conflates USPM and European power metal :spergin: Also, lol at shoehorning HoM into that listicle.

I listened to that Sumerlands album a couple of days ago and it's good. Checking out Crypt Sermon now (somehow completely managed to miss them) and :eyepop:

Agreed, I saw them again a few weeks ago open for Saint Vitus. They look like they have so much fun on stage, and one of the guitarists from Horrendous is playing bass for them now.

Allegaeon lost another band member due to financial difficulties and has launched a Patreon campaign to pay back ~$9000 in debt and continue existing.

I'm not sure how normal it is for a band to go upside down that much (maybe theirs is a better situation than some and I just don't know any better). I'll keep buying their albums and merch but I'm not so sure about directly pledging money to them.

I talked to them for a bit when they came through town supporting their second album and I remember the guitarist telling me that they were basically breaking even on tours and then going back to their day jobs to save up for the next one. Kinda sucks but I think that's probably pretty common these days.

I feel like it's a bit silly that a band on Metal Blade is saying that " the current state of the metal industry is that fans do not have very many ways to directly support the bands that they love." Like have they not heard of bands that aren't on big labels?
