Megazver posted:The late strategic resource distribution has to be bugged. Game after game, there's like one or two of coal or uranium per loving planet. I don't know if it's just random based on the game but I've noticed that they are much more stingy in this version than in the past. Uranium always felt like it was hard to come by in past versions, but I'm noticing the same for oil, iron, and coal as well. It's not bad as it forces you to be a Suzerian of city-states to have access to their resources. And perhaps to force you to settle in less desirable locations. I guess the downside is that it's yet another advantage for going wide in the game.

Playing on Island Plates feels really awful since usually half your territory are worthless sea tiles. You could compensate for this in Civ 5, but in Civ 6 the loss of tiles to build districts on really hurts. It's not imbalanced since every other civ suffers that same penalty but it makes getting cities up and going take a lot longer.

Has anyone had the AI come close to a science victory on them? It feels like the AI is really bad at science and I can always be miles ahead of them in that area even if I'm not really trying. The problem I have is that once the late game comes around, I can build bombers and all sorts of other powerful poo poo and just destroy anyone who is even close to a victory in another path. This could also be that they don't seem to target strategic resources so can't build the better units either.

Why is there no renessance or industrial pikeman replacement? It's terrible having those units become totally useless as tech eclipses them until they suddenly have rocket launchers. (Admittedly, rocket launchers vs spearmen and elephants is always hilarious)

Greece had managed to build three spaceports and even launched a satellite, sitting safe and sound on a different continent. I still managed to comfortably get a science victory before them with time to spare, but if I'd been harder pressed on my own continent it might have been a close thing. This was also on Prince, playing as Egypt.

I have a few questions I'm hoping I can get some help on. Religion was the area I was always confused on in Civ 5. 1) Do I get any benefit from religion in my cities if I didn't found them? I conquered Sumerians and they had founded Judaism. It spread and their cities were pumping out tons of faith. Was I getting any benefit from that at all? All I was doing was creating missionaries and apostles to stop another Civ from getting a religious victory. 2) Is the religious victory as boring as it sounds? Seems like the strategy is just spam missionaries and apostles and convert as many cities as possible? Is there more strategy to this that I'm not seeing? 3) Is there a way to cycle through all my units like in the previous Civ? Sometimes I put a unit to sleep and have to search the whole map to find them. Wondering if I'm missing an easier way to do this so I know what's out there. 4) What's the difference in the thermonuclear device and just the nuclear bomb? Gave me the option to build both but couldn't figure out if they performed differently. 5) Do roads suck in this version? Seems that it's not benefiting movement much at all like in previous Civs.

I think you picked the wrong fight here though. Honestly I don't think it's bad that some problems seem easy to fix though. That might signify a misstep on Firaxis's part for whatever reason (Maybe they just missed it, or were rushing to their deadline) but the alternative that it's a deep structural problem that would be difficult to fix is actually much worse for the game. I have enough faith to assume they didn't gently caress up that bad, but if they did, then this game doesn't stand much of a chance at getting better. I don't think the specific issue discussed was even present in Civ V, so it shouldn't be a problem here. Anway, I feel like the protectorate Casus Belli's war monger penalties are wrong

Wondering if I'm missing an easier way to do this so I know what's out there. The only way I know of, is that if you click the unit name (in the bottom right, where you'd give it orders) you get a list of units that you can then individually click through. It's a lousy implementation: if it's grey, they don't have a move left. If it's white, they do. edit also if you click the arrows next to city names in the same part of the interface, you cycle through your cities. boar guy fucked around with this message at 22:46 on Oct 26, 2016 |

It's really fun watching the CIv 4 squad claiming their game at release was perfect when they had to patch a lot of major features later on. Specially the AI where I could literally nuke one or two civs to death and get denounced at max because "We Are Bros" is Good AIŠ I'll just make myself clear, I couldn't give two shits about threats or denounces, the BEST way to deter surprise wars is a good defending army and that has been the rule since CiV2. I believe you guys are missing CIV4 Diplo because you could exploit them to be best friends forever while in CiV5/6 they are just crazy psychos. turboraton fucked around with this message at 22:23 on Oct 26, 2016 |

Using nukes with a severe diplo penalty is fine imo, as long as the nukes are sufficiently powerful to merit the diplo hit. Civ4 ICBMs were extremely underwhelming in this respect. Tactical nukes on the other hand, were awesome.
