Neddy Seagoon posted:It also reads like "we're yanking all the soda from the vending machines". Wife was working at a hospital and that actually happened. Well, minus the knife part. Doctor went on a health rampage and got all the soda and coffee machines removed. Suddenly there was a bunch of nurses/techs having hydration problems because there was no other easy source of fluids. If I remember right the break room had no source of water and sanitation rules prevented bringing it in from sinks intended to serve patients.

My company offers a bonus of $200 every six months if you go to the gym 50 times. This is the same but opposite thing, so if you get upset about that soda email, then you have to get upset about the reimbursement too.

Not really, because $200 is an incentive. Chiding people in memos is nannying.

The only reason for people sticking around at a company being that they would struggle to find employment anywhere else doesn't sound like a recipe for success. Maybe that's what a 1980s book on management told the C-levels to do?

But long records, like their DKIM, gets cut off. Fortunately, I don't care about DKIM, and I'm just going to make all the A records into CNAMEs to the parent company. Mostly I just wanted the ability to copy/paste all these subdomains or just modify a zone file to upload somewhere. A company that incompetent... can you just AXFR the zone from a random machine and get it that way?

Our new HR lady runs marathons and her first act was to replace everything in the vending machines with granola bars and bottled water. The second act was to Act III was to let us know our health insurance premiums are going up 50% and our Co-pays were doubling.

Humphreys posted:We have a bunch of networked printers and mine is the only one not networked and off unshared USB. I print a LOT daily. The networked ones in the main open officespace gently caress up daily multiple times and their solution is always 'restart the server' hah. They likely only need to restart the print service. Assuming windows server spooler. Also if it's crashing that often there is either something actually wrong with the printer, or the driver. Switch to a different driver version and see what happens. That or it's possible the printer has long out lived it's support and nothing is going to make it work correctly. What is likely happening is someone is printing a PDF from recipes.com or something stupid. I have no idea what that site does but it crashes a ton of enterprise print drivers. Hell they might just be restarting the service and saying server because it's less confusing to people. I've been known to say things that are vaguely accurate just to avoid explaining stuff. It's much better than the one time I literally told someone magic. They actually just nodded and moved on.
