Yeah, I find it rather implausible that Comey is pulling levers behind the scenes to get Trump elected, especially since he had an opportunity to recommend indictment and didn't. Which is why I cannot figure out how bluffing would be good.

So if Reid isn't bluffing he just boxed Comey in perfectly. A reporter is going to shove a mic in his face asking if the allegations are true. Comey literally can't respond with the form answer, 'we don't talk about that' because he just broke that rule three days ago. To be honest with how many shady things Trump's been revealed to have been involved in there's no way the FBI doesn't have several ongoing investigations at the moment. What a loving moron

Well if we're talking dream worlds Reid could be telling the truth and the FBI could be keeping quiet on a Trump investigation, in hopes of doing their usual and arresting the politician after the election. Then why announce the Clinton stuff? Can't hurt the investigation since it is a dead end anyway.

So the three possible explanations of Comey's actions are now basically this, right? 1) The FBI viewed the e-mails without a warrant in an attempt to tie them to the server issue, violating the 4th amendment 2) Comey wrote the letter without knowing the contents in an attempt to swing the election, purposefully violating the Hatch Act 3) Comey wrote the letter without knowing the contents in a botched attempt to not violate the Hatch Act, and ended up accidentally violating the Hatch Act

You're arguing about how black people view a symbol that was ultimately a circlejerk and doesn't live up to either meaning it was intended for in the least, but hey, as long as it gives you the warm fuzzies. This is more or less the cultural equivalent of a child throwing a tantrum. The statue means what we want it to mean. Shouting down people who try to associate it with exaltation of the multiethnic element of America is counter productive in the most literal sense. Nations are not real, they exist because we think they do and they mean what we think they mean. Symbols and stories are a big part of that. If you want to change things, it's more effective to negotiate the meaning of those symbols than to try and convince everyone that All That Is And Ever Was is bad and awful and wrong. I should not need to explain to you why the latter is a losing strategy. That you're treating the Statue of Liberty, of all things, as some kind of completely unuseable symbol of atrocity is ludicrous. It is by far the easiest national symbol we have to use for humanist and secular ends.
