My top two guesses are a Thawne that allied with him rather than killing him (as others have suggested) and Grodd. I'm hoping it's Grodd. I'm hoping that HR is fully in thrall of a giant psychic man-eating gorilla.

So yeah, I'm guessing Grodd.

E: Plus it makes his nickname very pertinent if his partner is non human. Knowing this show it will turn out to be HW's twin brother who got all the brains but none of the charisma. So when he's introduced later Cavanaugh gets to play stick in the mud Wells.

In the DCAU, he's technically the villain, but he rightfully critiques modern art, saved a man from kryptonite poisoning (even if it was luthor), and saved christmas. if we had more villains like that, we'd need less heroes

To be honest I'm pretty unclear on how they afford to keep the lights on. Are they just selling patents for cold guns and sonic destabilizing wahoozies in between episodes? How do Cisco and Kaitlin even afford their apartments? Who writes them paychecks?

Oliver's probably floating them money under the table. And Ray probably bequeathed them his fortune as a slush fund too on account of him being "dead" to the rest of the world. Comedy option: Cisco is actually still Flashpoint rich, he's just hiding it from everyone

I thought the evil Dr. Wells/Thawne left Barry a big confessional tape wherein he left all of Wells' money to them and confessed to all the murders and such with the caveat that while it would free his dad it still wouldn't make him happy?

Yep. Thawne confessed to the murders and left everything to Barry just to prove that getting everything he wanted in life would still not be enough to make him happy.

Is Oliver broke or is he just not mega rich? Like, I know he lost his family's company and mansion and properties but you actually have to really, really gently caress up to go from that rich to needing to get a job. I mean, shouldn't he have gotten a millions dollar buyoff when Queen Consolidated got bought twice?

The show really doesn't understand/care how companies work because there was also the thing where Felicity was fired as CEO of Palmertech but she should still technically "own" the company because there's no way that Ray had less than a majority share of the stock.

Billionaire idiot tanks his company by playing the market and ruins economy. Yes this just so happens to have occurred at the same time armed terrorists took over the stock exchange. No this doesn't seem suspicious and we're not looking into it.

Amell explained that Oliver was rich person broke; most of his major assets were gone but he still had a lot of liquid cash. It's like Luke Cage where Cottonmouth was complaining about Cage stealing all his money but he still had hundreds of thousands of dollars just laying around.
