When Mike Amott got bored with Arch Enemy he made a sweet rock band called Spiritual Beggars instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzhWmLEHEBY This may be the worst album cover I've ever seen, but Mushroom River Band is legit crunchy riffs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfOK6KKBMCI I really only like one of their albums but Alabama Thunderpussy's Staring at the Divine is a fun listen. Here have a B-side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAqaZrRjx0M You mentioned not harsh vocals, what about no vocals at all? Karma to Burn has you covered: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOXnTeY8lTU

I don't know if it's really metal anymore... hell I'm not sure if it ever was, but I got my Kodama LP from Alcest not long ago. I don't have a working turntable right now but I did get to hear the record and it's fantastic. I love every single thing about this.

I liked the Kodama album a lot probably Ecailles De La Lune is still my favorite Alcest Album. This album is definitely more "metal" than Shelter which was more experimental/shoegazey. Oiseau De Proie is a favorite of mine from Kodama and also Notre Sang is a pretty neat instrumental ending track.

I still think Les Voyages might be their best album but I feel like Kodama was a return to that idea, while Shelter was a totally different thing. Don't get me wrong, I love Shelter, it's just a very different record than the 3 that surround it. It was almost pure shoegaze, whereas Ecailles, Voyages and Kodama all have a much more metal base. If you're more into their metal aspects I can certainly see why Ecailles would be your favorite of their albums. It's easily the most metal thing they did, and it's a great loving record.

I'm looking for some recommendations. Most of what I listen to now is Iron Maiden, Rammstein, with bits of Dio, Megadeth, Metallica, and Black Sabbath. I prefer clean vocals and dislike growling. Skimming the thread Blind Guardian seems like a good start.

Cirith Ungol, Mercyful Fate, Angel Witch, Grim Reaper, Pentagram(the US one), Satan(UK), Candlemass, Metal Church. That covers a lot of ground but if you listen to a few of those and like or dislike some of them and say why then more precise recommendations could be given.

So I saw Ghost live. Pretty solid show. There were way more women there than usual at a metal show. It was almost a 50/50 gender split. They were throwing bras and fanart on stage too. So that was interesting.NonzeroCircle posted:If you like Rammstein then maybe check out Die Krupps. Do a YouTube search for "Neue Deutsche Harte" too as thats the genre ascribed to Rammsteinalikes. New Furia is loving amazing, I don't even know how to categorize it; parts of it sound like Earth, others have an almost 90s college radio rock kind of vibe; there's still crushing black metal in there too, rest assured: https://paganrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ksi-yc-milczy-luty It doesn't hurt that the production is tremendous, especially that lower end. I've heard the new DSO and CdG and kinda assumed they'd be fighting it out for the Best loving Thing of 2016, but both of those, despite having diametrically opposed running times, are so daunting that I keep putting off repeat listens. Over the course of yesterday and last night, I listened to this Furia six or seven times, which is something I don't think I've done since I first heard The Misfits like 30 years ago. This album just goes by with so much ease, but with one powerful moment after another, that you never want any song to end. I am beyond blown away (not that Furia's prior work hasn't been brilliant). Best of all, it's one of those albums where each song seems to get better than the one before it. The last track feels a bit like an extended outro (but it does have some of the best riffs), so everything before it builds toward the fifth track, which itself has this intense, drawn out, interrupted, and restarted crescendo thing going on, and is probably the best song I've heard this year. Also, the new Horn, slated for early next year, sounds decent too, and has killer cover art; the video for the advance track shows it being created. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj0tiuEtgY0
