ninjahedgehog posted:I don't think any football kick video is funnier than this one: In CFL, if a missed kick lands in the end zone you get a point. The game was tied, so the opposing team had to make sure that they got the ball back out of the end zone, otherwise they would lose. It only really works in the CFL because the goals posts are in the front of the end zone, and their end zone is way bigger.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3909282/Australian-men-refuse-apologise-North-Korea-golf-prank.html Aussie non-golfer dudes are invited to the North Korean Amateur Golf Championships based on an email they sent in jest. They were in Beijing so they make some quick fake blazers and go party in Pyongyang for 5 days. The freude is on the NK officials who are now demanding the boys come back to apologize. The schaden is on whatever low-level NK official whose family will be imprisoned for generations for allowing this mistake to happen...

e: I've been informed this was actually a touchdown. I was hoping he'd lose it since he didn't land in the end zone, but apparently he entered the airspace so he's good. Still freude on the blue team for the flying defender and the failed wrap-up, and schaden on the receiver for getting a butt and foot to the face https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCxajKYgtLg BrianBoitano has a new favorite as of 20:37 on Nov 7, 2016 |

Does the ball landing in the white area mean it's not a try? Or is the schaden entirely on the blue team getting dunked on?

Decrepus posted:The last jump he did was showboating and he was pushed out of bounds because of it. But he was already across the line so the touchdown counted Edit: It was a touchdown as soon as any part of the ball crossed the line. Unlike a try in rugby (as i understand it), a touchdown does not actually have to touch down.

Velocity Raptor posted:Yep. He was literally thrown out of bounds before he technically scored. (Ball or feet in the end zone.) That wasn't a premature celebration at all though. That was a game winning touchdown. Also, american football doesn't give a poo poo if your feet make it to the end zone.

The schadenfreude is the two pro athletes who just needed to push a guy one inch to get him out of bounds and instead they almost push him along and help him into the endzone.

I think the thing most people get confused about is that if he had caught a pass while in midair in the endzone and landed out of bounds, it would have not been a touchdown. If you are in possession of the ball though like that guy was, you could just poke it past the line and then chuck it down field the other way, it'll still be a touchdown. A touchdown just means you broke the plane of the endzone while in possession of the ball, that's all.
