That's a real question. Like, don't worry about couching it. Owners of capital, I assume?

To be honest, I think women's rights will remain in relative stasis, i.e. bad. Abortion might get worse but I'm not sure if wage gap and etc. will be especially affected, just stymied.

No see you take all the money you save in foreign aid and military spending and use it to repair our crumbling infrastructure in a way that will unite all Americans and provide employment yeah that's what will happen

Holy loving poo poo America, never go full Trump.

This probably means more war, hysteria, ignorance, sensationalism and a increasing downward slide towards fascism. That would likely happen regardless.

For those who are thinking that Bernie as a primary candidate would be different, he would simply have been lambasted as a communist like Corbyn was in the UK, so i doubt that'd be better, even thought he was the most reasonable candidate.

I think so too.

Either way, the Dem strategy of running on a "Everything Is Fine" platform was dumb as poo poo.

Nah, I meant really. I think folks who control capital will win, I assume? But will he actually be able to force any protectionism when the majority of his party is still against it? I'd argue we don't have a Republican in the White House still, we've got Donald Trump and we don't know what that means.

Yeah that sounds about right. It can't all be blamed on racism, there were whites who went from Obama to Trump because of economic anxiety, unironically.

I kind of want to watch it tomorrow now. It was enjoyable sometimes before the primaries

Holy gently caress Michael Moore was right about the election.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/michael-moores-once-shocking-prediction-a-trump-presidency-feels-very-prescient-945645

quote:

Moore laid out five reasons why Trump would win on his website back in July. He wrote that Trump needed only to focus on blue states Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania and noted his theory of "The Last Stand of the Angry White Man."
...
He highlighted "the Hillary problem," in which he noted that the enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton "just isn't there" (particularly among millennials) and that Trump was getting more people off their seats and to the polls.

"Let’s face it: Our biggest problem here isn’t Trump – it’s Hillary. She is hugely unpopular — nearly 70% of all voters think she is untrustworthy and dishonest," wrote Moore. "She represents the old way of politics, not really believing in anything other than what can get you elected."

The fact is that those many of those same "bigots" who elected Donald Trump also elected Barack Obama twice. While it might be that America is just full of bigots, couldn't it also be that there are some who are not bigots but also just did not like Hillary? Isn't it possible that maybe, just maybe, a candidate with support of their own could have swayed them not to vote against someone as awful as Trump but to actually vote for them?

This is 100% a matter of Hillary being a terrible candidate. She had no positions of any kind (Third Way Democrat) and she was shown to be corrupt and lying most of the time. She voted for the Iraq War. Her surrogates were shown to have plotted against her democratic opponent in their roles with the party. Her supporters alienated young voters who supported her opponent in the primaries and her party's other key bloc, black voters, she had called "superpredators". Her husband was in power when mandatory minimum sentencing, a key factor in the systematic destruction of the black family, was instituted. He was also responsible for getting NAFTA passed which coincidentally destroyed Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania's middle class (do those states sound familiar?). So there went the union vote. And after all of that, did you seriously expect that there was going to be enthusiastic support just because the other guy's terrible?

Lest we forget, all the other Republicans are equally as terrible. You still have to give the left a reason to support you.

When did they ever let Hillary talk about policy? Show me a single poll where her number went up because she announced a policy agenda.
