I was tempted to move everything to a cash position before the election, but then realized that's a lot of work and I'm not retiring for 20 more years. Just think guys, all our contributions are buying even more for the next few weeks before the world realizes how unimportant and ineffectual modern American Presidents really are. poo poo...I just realized the 'Trump Doctrine' is probably going to be a real thing that my grandkids get thought in school at some point.

I definitely sold some US-focused index funds this morning. Oh well, I'm still expecting a dip sometime before January. At least it was just my brokerage account! I'm not dumb enough to touch my retirement accounts.

Come on guys, maybe he was trading in Hong Kong. Markets make no sense. They went up when we thought Hillary would win. They went up even more when they realized Republicans would keep Congress. Futures drop like a brick when Trump is elected, but then the market goes up even more when the bell rings. So we've had 3 days of UPUPUP and nothing has really changed. It's like the market didn't care who won, just so long as the world didn't end on Election night.

brainwrinkle posted:I definitely sold some US-focused index funds this morning. Oh well, I'm still expecting a dip sometime before January. At least it was just my brokerage account! I'm not dumb enough to touch my retirement accounts. Yeah...we have a rule here at our house. Unless we are 65+, nothing ever is coming out or is to be liquidated in the retirement accounts. Money goes in, and that's about it. No matter HOW bad it gets...we only touch the accounts to put money in. No liquidating, no removal, nothing. They are the Vanguard targeted retirement funds...if we leave it alone it should be fine as long as we follow this rule. We have emergency funds for taking out cash if needed...the retirement funds are NOT for now. That being said, my husband's coworker liquidated ALL of his retirement accts last night in a frenzied panic after hearing the markets dropped due to Trump. He isn't very happy about that in the light of day...and neither is his wife who just found out what he did this afternoon. She called me in a rage to have me talk her off the ledge (and keep her from committing a felony on his person). She is slightly less ticked off after our talk, but if I were in his shoes I would stay away from sharp pointy objects and high cliffs for a while. Not to mention he may want to sleep with one eye open. My husband, when I called him to tell him about his idiot coworker, made sure I knew he had been a good man and would never EVER touch the accts without talking to me first. I am so glad the threats have somewhat worked :p Disco Salmon fucked around with this message at 01:24 on Nov 10, 2016 |

So even if he did it last night, it probably didn't trade until the close today. His wife can probably put stuff back in now, miss whatever tomorrow's performance ends up being, and be fine. I'll go ahead and predict that tomorrow Trump appoints Sarah Palin as defense secretary and his favorite sock as secretary of state, so they could end up ahead of the game.

This can't be real... Can it? I [23M] was in a findom arrangement with [20s F]. Findom is definitely one of the best scams. It's not just paying her to dom you, that would just be a regular ol' pro domme, it's getting off on having her tell you how to use your money and making you buy her stuff.

I would like to travel to NZ before deciding to move there, but one of my friends visited there and thought it was "the only civilized country [he's] ever been to." I lived in Canada before and it was great, but moving to Vancouver is very BWM since the housing there is more ridiculous than just about anywhere in America.
