Pick posted:Obama really brought in a smug liberalism that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Considering he won the rust belt twice (minus Indiana), it obviously didn't rub enough people the wrong way. I don't care if your approach turns off some people, so long as it turns on some people too. Kerry had this problem too. Try to be too many things to too many people and run on social justice. I'm a cynical liberal. I will gladly take a white protestant man that doesn't hit the right magic words so long as he loving wins.

Pick posted:Obama really brought in a smug liberalism that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Obama going for a third term might have won every single state and blanked Trump. This wasn't a rejection of Obama. It was a rejection of a globalist world where the benefits go to a small number of elites. Its the same reason Bernie had so much support, Bernie just wasn't a cartoonish racist about it.

And on top of everything else, what the gently caress is the deal with the music on the ABC stream? If the music is selected by the campaign, it's a final example of being tonedeaf, the music is totally at odds with what's going on.

Not a Step posted:Most of the people who voted Hillary in the primary were going to vote Dem in the general no matter what. Minorities are a locked in Dem demographic who by and large don't get a choice. Bernie got a lot of new voters in on the Dem primaries and did very well with whites, who turned out to be the key to this election (and also every other election ever). In a more broad sense Sanders was certainly not a status-quo candidate and could have offered an non-insane outlet for all the deeply dissatisfied working vote out there. In this election people were clearly voting for something different than a continuation of the current economy. Probably anything different regardless of what it was as it turns out.

Modern universities are rife with identity political purity liberalism. poo poo, the right-wing power players KNOW how prone to it young liberals are. Occupy Wall Street legitimately scared them.
