Kiss the Joycon to Kiss Zelda

One of the first writers I ever took notice of was Daniel Way, because I read about 5 issues of his Venom run back in the early 2000s and vowed never to read anything by him ever again.

Speaking of Marvel and manga, a one-shot Doctor Strange prequel manga will run in Weekly Shonen Magazine in November 22. This is to promote the film's January Japanese release.

Stan Lee was the first writer, but he doesn't count.

The first actual writers I noticed were Claremont and PAD because they had written every issue of X-Men and Hulk I'd ever read.

The first artist I really noticed was this amazing Kubert fella who somehow drew X-Men and Wolverine every month. What do you mean there's two of them?

Today is a godawful shitpile of a day and no amount of comic books can make up for it BUT thank you, Gwenpool, for that reveal at the end. It was perfect and managed to cheer me up, if only for a while.

It all comes out right in the end.
I love everyone on Gwenpool's team, and it breaks my heart that they're probably going to reveal that Mega Tony is a traitor.

And the more we see of the Terrible Eye, the more she becomes my favorite.

Renew Your Vows was almost exactly what I want from a continuation (of a sort) of pre-OMD Spider-Man. I can see a few potholes incoming, but other than that no complaints.

She's adorable. Honestly the only way comics could make this day good would be Squirrel Girl and Hellcat being released as well.

The only way comics could make today good is if Captain America became real.

How quick is Marvel going to wrap up the Captain Hydra storyline and get Cap back to being a true beacon of hope?

I can't see them letting this story go on too much longer. There are zero people who want to have Steve Rogers be evil, especially right now.

I like that big crazy spy mythos stuff that Hickman distilled out of the old Shield/Hydra nonsense, so I'm enjoying Captain America a lot.

I am hoping that the next event is centered around the whole story beat in Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch that there's something wrong with magic, and that the event would involve that.

Unless something happened in today's issue that I haven't read yet, Hydra Cap and Red Skull are actually not on the same side. Hydra Cap's whole deal is that he's trying to take down Red Skull because he thinks that Red Skull has corrupted Hydra.

Red Skull's plan to make Cap subservient to him by altering his past pretty much backfired in that in that made him extremely loyal to the ideals of the original Hydra and Cap sees Red Skull as someone in direct contrast to that. And Cap also see all the other superheroes of the world to be in direct contrast of that.

So what are the ideals of the original Hydra? Is it being portrayed as something actually good and not the villainous organization that we've been shown? (I don't want to read the comic)

At the risk of whoever that is who gets mad when I poo poo on Nick Spencer getting mad because I am making GBS threads on Nick Spencer, and I haven't done a deep re-reading of the books or whatever but:

The Kobik-altered history of Steve Rogers is basically:

1) Steve was a weak little kid in the 1920s and his mom was a saint and his dad was an abusive alcoholic (so pretty much the original story, at least of the past 15-20 years)
2) But then a lady shows up who is part of the Hydra Society and like helps his mom out and gets her to go to meetings about social change.
3) Then the Hydra Society murders Steve's dad but makes it look like an accident, but I think Steve knew they murdered his dad?
4) Then they pressure Steve's mom to go deeper into the group, and when she refuses, they murder Steve's mom.
5) Steve is then put into a Hydra orphanage where everyone hates him because he is weak, and they want to kill him.
6) Then he tries to run away from the Hydra orphanage but Gorgon shows up and is all "you could be great, prove them wrong".

Fast forward seventy years, and he looooooooves Hydra, but not the corrupted Red Skull/Nazi Hydra. The original Eugenics Hydra that murdered his parents and tried to kill him.

Really curious about how a childlike Cosmic Cube decided on this particular reality rewrite when she was told to make Steve love Hydra by the Red Skull.

Long Live The King!

To be more concise, it's not clear yet whether Steve believes in the core ideals of Hydra or is trying to co-opt the organization for his own purposes. So don't take what I said to mean that Steve Rogers is being portrayed as good guy because he's against Skull. He decidedly not being portrayed that way as he has actively worked against the interests of other superheroes and almost killed Jack Flagg to hide his secret. What Steve thinks the true purpose of Hydra is hasn't been really revealed yet. Just that he strongly opposes Red Skull's use of hatred, intolerance, and conquest as the leader of Hydra and is actively plotting to kill him while keeping up the appearances that he works for him. The only thing he's mentioned as a motivation is to bring peace to the world through strength and eliminating all potential threats to society, including superheroes, by any means necessary.
