No but constant little things like this actually did work to erode the enthusiasm for her which is why no one showed up to vote. You can talk about how progressive the platform is all you want but it doesn't work if the candidate is a liar.

That article is crap, though. "The Democrats lost because they didn't have a solution to magically resurrect factory jobs that no longer exist. Neither did the Republicans, but at least they offered up white nationalism! Also the Democrats were elitist rich jerks who weren't blue-collar enough."

Grognan posted:

Poor whites actually split down the middle you gently caress. Its like you're painting an entire group with the racism brush and surprised when the other party uses that to the hilt.

I'm not talking about just this election. I'm talking about the slow erosion of social safety nets over the past decades. These are the same people who cheered the demolition of welfare, reelected people who actively rejected healthcare subsidies for poor people, and so much more.

If you think Latinos can't be racist against Latinos, you're a perfect example of taking minorities for granted.

I still don't get why we can't just lie. Poor conservatives apparently hate big government but they sure do love Medicare.

The democrats could campaign on reversing financialization of the economy (the financialization that they're partially responsible for) but like that's ever going to happen.

Plenty of white Latinos out there who are descended from peninsulares, are rich and/or have been here for generations, and look down on their poorer darker skinned brethren. Also, don't forget about the Cubans.

You just don't recognize them because they don't "look Hispanic" to you. Go hang out with elite Mexicans sometime, aside from the accent (if it even exists) many are indistinguishable from white Americans in appearance.

Retraining is quite a stretch of the word, in order to qualify for the free education you couldn't work or make money to support an existing family at all. I watched a room full of people storm out of a seminar explaining the rules in frustration. And not just white people either.

This election was literally "Status Quo and Incremental Progress" vs "gently caress All Minorities Forever". Everyone who didn't vote for the former approves of, or at best doesn't care about, the latter. And silence is tacit approval of bigotry. This election conclusively proved that the majority of this nation simply does not care about the lives of minorities of any kind, and will gladly see them all dead either purposefully or through apathy.

So you can disagree, but the reality is pretty goddamn conclusive.

That comes from the county level map. I do not think it's correct to say that "Obama voters went Trump" unless we get a decent number of polls asking that and returning that info.

From my POV we didn't lose voter to Trump. We just lost votes. An effect of that is that the Obama voters in those key districts weren't there to counter act the GOP voters that we know are always going to be there. If it was really that Obama voters went for Trump I think we'd see that 5.7 or some number of them on the GOP side.

Poor voter turn out gave those counties to Trump.
