A GIANT PARSNIP posted:This thread is 100x worse than trump winning because it's just an excuse for people to hand wave poo poo away instead of learning why HRC lost loving MI, PA, IA, OH, and WI all in the same god drat election. Here's what I think. Over time people, especially on the left have lost faith in the democratic establishment because they refused to take hard stances on almost anything the left puts effort into and cares. Nothing on DAPL, Racism, pot legalization and minimum wage. In fact as a lot of people active in local stuff found out in the past four years democrats will work against you. Then Hillary got nominated and wow look Democrats are all like "look we have the 'most progressive platform ever!'" except instead of shaping the message positively around how awesome they're going to be they're going to rely entirely on the negative that Trump is actually one of the most disgusting people to run for office ever. In the end unsurprisingly, both candidates had pretty low turn outs. This tells me that really, no one liked either candidate. Neither candidate was very exciting, neither candidate barely rallied anyone besides their core voting base that runs down the list and checks R or D. Lastly ignorance of the reality of Trump does not make one innocent of being complicit in what is the biggest blow towards progression in the US on pretty much anything people on the left care about in quite a while. And holding accountable people who voted for him and enabled the wave of white nationalism spreading across the country deserve whatever they get. Its ironic that we can't be as 'honest' and 'from the heart' as Trump to the people who decided those were good qualities and just plain call them out on being lovely people.

Plus the sucking off of Hamilton was just sending my eyes a'rolling anyway.

Not everyone wants to live in an urban area dude. And on top of that, the area you live in is a HUGE impact on your family's culture and beliefs. Also as someone who moved from the sticks to the big city, things are actually worse here so uhhh why are we focusing on rurals and not the actual whole working class.

The primaries were all the establishment fucks getting kicked in their loving genitals but the retards in the Democratic party decided to put forward the living embodiment of that establishment in her best pant suit, ignore states she lost in the primary season based on past general election results, and proceed to do everything else wrong while they were at it. And now you want to seriously prove not a single loving thing was learned by having Establishment Jr. run for the loving senate. That I think these people are in dire straits and need help now? The four biggest topics I heard when I was campaigning (this was in 2012, mind.) in southern VA (which formerly had large amounts of low tech manufacturing). 1. Education is garbage. Schools closing constantly. Awful graduation rates. Nobody seems to have a future. 2. Dead towns were people cannot get out of because they just don't have the money. Parents sad that their kids cannot go live the life they want and are stuck living in the same house and place forever. 3. Previously you could graduate high school and get a job. That isn't the case anymore. 4. Infrastructure has completely fallen apart.

Maybe I have some kind of truly unique experience here but my area Is massively poor and the logging industry is slowing dying and all the good farm land got bought by rich people during the real estate crash who then planted vineyards and exclusively staff it with either actual illegal immigrants at $2 an hour or their friends and family's kids, basically removing a ton of agricultural jobs from the community forever since these jackasses can and do run the vineyards at a loss forever simply so they can say they own a vineyard. So basically, what are the establishment Democrats offering me that helps me or my town?
