Over time I've sort of grown to care less and less about the Marvel movies and get more and more into the TV shows so it'll be really sad if SHIELD ends and the whole little universe it has is promptly forgotten and retconned.

Yeah, every superhero movie feels like more of the same and has been forever. At least AoS maintains the illusion of something different for me.

Is there something indicating the end of Shield? But yeah, if the show ended I wouldn't assume the end for the characters. Daisy would be a natural addition to an Inhumans show or some other kind of powered story, Caulson was a movie character before tv, and May and FitzSimmons are established enough to pop up whenever they want to do Shield.

Daisy was already in the comics before AoS though. Same with Coulson (though he was invented by the movies). Really, AoS's most significant original character contributions are May, Fitzsimmons, and Ward.

The magic number for syndication's also dropped from 100 to 88 episodes in the last few years, typically end of season 4 on a 22 episode a year series.

At this point I wouldn't mind the show stopping (provided all the major plot threads get resolved etc.) It's been a good ride with fun characters but I do feel like it's getting into a rut.

We may have a lot of superhero shows on tv, but Shield is the only one with a serious budget and writers that aren't morons. I hope it sticks around for a few more years

My current money is on SHIELD getting renewed, but only for a final, thirteen episode season. The syndication threshold is now at 88 episodes, but I think channels still get a lot more for hitting 100, which the thirteen episodes would bring the show to. Plus, the Inhumans show that's airing next year is only going to be eight episodes long, but it's airing in September. Which puts SHIELD at midseason, with its ending tying into Infinity War. Makes a lot of sense to me. Plus, even though the show's not doing great in live numbers, its still got strong international pull, and they're not going to completely alienate an audience that ABC wants to cultivate by taking away all the central shows so suddenly and without fanfare -- look how pissed people were about Carter. FInally, ABC really sucks in ratings this year, and has banked on a _lot_ of stinkers, including pretty much every single new show bar Designated Survivor. If they're going to get rid of all, or most, of them, they're not going to get rid of so many channel stalwarts in one fell swoop as well. Which is why I'm predicting a shortened final season, as a stop gap measure.

TV seems able to support 5 DC shows, it can support 2 Marvel shows. Maybe because of the shift behind the scenes, the Inhuman show won't be as hamstrung as AoS when it comes to the relationship with the movies.

There's going to be 4 Marvel shows, so they're closing the gap! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Inhumans, Cloak and Dagger, and Fox will have Legion on FX. I don't know if Cloak and Dagger will be connected to the MCU.

If you're including Cloak and Dagger, might as well throw in Runaways and Damage Inc. I wouldn't be surprised if none of those shows happen.

It's hit or miss on the CGI, sometimes you get something completely awesome like the Kara/Vastra midair fight, sometimes you get that Red Tornado suit. Things seem to have evened out a lot since the move to CW since (I assume) they have to be more careful where they spend the budget. Well, that, and they've had a season to figure out what works (martian morph effects) and what doesn't (Red Tornado).
