On my god that looks amazing. Tractor Beams are crazy powerful. Bombs are awesome. This ship owns.

Don't worry, there's other parts of the article where they make it clearer that they don't understand the tractor beam collision rules. In other news, seems like a fun support ship - does lots of neat things, can hand out tractor beams like a mother fucker, but I highly doubt an entire fleet of them will be a competitive list.

Smuggling Compartment will get you a Scavenger Crane on a YT-model ship, if that does any of them any good, which...I dunno, not really. Could make using the 1300's missile slot worthwhile, maybe. Han Solo (new) + Concussion Missiles + Smuggling Compartment + Scavenger Crane + Guidance Chips + Deadeye Just start erasing TIE Fighters on turn one. For a mere 53 points!

Finster Dexter posted:Is that what's going on? I read the preceding paragraph three times and it still didn't make sense. Here's the key sentence: quote:[...]By blocking the ship in the first place, Unkar Plutt can deny it an action, and then when he assigns it a tractor beam token, he may be able to force it out of position to claim its retaliatory shot. So basically: -Unkar Plutt flies up to block -X-Wing crashes into him, doesn't get an action -At the end of the movement phase, Plutt uses his ability to assign a tractor beam token to the X-Wing, shifting it away (And presumably forcing it out of arc of whatever it wanted to shoot at) -Plutt can now shoot at the tractor'd X-Wing The paragraph is worded weirdly because the author tried to squeeze the use of the new Score to Settle card in there as well, but the gist of it is that Plutt can just block or slam into people like an rear end and then tractor them away to ruin their shots (Or set one up of his own). enigmahfc posted:The QuadJumper looks like a real rear end in a top hat of a ship so I guess I'm going to love it. Definitely. I think the great thing about it is that while it's not going to win any matches by itself, it's also not something your opponent can ignore-letting it get in close is just asking to have your day ruined by bombs or tractor beams. It's going to be a really fun ship to dick around with.

And I really hope they double down on it not being fast. Like a straight 3 is the only 3 or more speed maneuver it can do. Maybe no turn around moves.

stolen from Redditquote:Hmm... Ahsoka, VI, Sabine, Scavenger Crane, your choice of mine. Drop some Cluster Mines every round, average 3 damage if they all hit plus the free damage from Sabine, wait for chance to refresh. Never need to actually attack. The crane recovers the mines, and if you are forced to attack, the crane can recover it too!

There are plenty of PS9+ in lists out there these days, and you run some risk of discarding the crane. I'm looking forward to a photo of someone trying the gimmick accompanying a Z swarm and showing that they've covered the board in 9 cluster mine deployments.

I like the dial a lot. Between the sloops and the backwards moves, it seems like a fun ship to fly, and it has white 1-turns which is important to me.

At 2/2/5/0 I'm concerned this thing is just going to cease existing the first turn of combat. Especially since none of the pilots or good upgrades included are defensive in nature.

TIE Bombers are 2/2/6/0 and if you put any decent ordnance package on them they get evaporated the first turn of attacks. No shields hurts.

Yeah, cheap and cheerful is probably going to be the answer. It will probably force the enemy to split fire, which is A Good Thing. If it's an effective, obnoxious blocker, the ship that is touching and being blocked can't shoot at it, and is going to try to shoot at something more important. A ship that is not blocked has the choice of shooting at the blocker, or at the other ship. Pattern Analyzer and the Spacetug Tractor Array together means you can get really rude about blocking and tractor effects. The "A Score To Settle" EPT may actually be pretty great on old Chewbacca, because he doesn't care as much about the incoming crits.

I really like this ship because I get the distinct feeling that my list is going to eat it for breakfast like it's not even there and the game will effectively be 100 versus 80 points. Scum needs a medium cost ace that can survive to the lategame on a small base, not another kinda cheap support ship.

I feel like this is a lot better than any of the other cheap support ships, though. I don't know if it will be competitive (probably not) but it will be a lot more interesting than stuff like the HWK, imo.

Whisper w/Gunner really fucks over Dengar, as long as Whisper has initiative. Besides the obvious need for Whisper to always shoot first, as initiative winner, Whisper gets to Gunner in step 9 of the flow chart of doom and do 2nd attack before Dengar can trigger his attack and still gets all the Whisper shenanigans in step 8 of that 2nd attack so Dengar gets to return fire into the cloaked, token'd Whisper. Which I think is just fine in terms of balance or whatever. But I just finished a league game of Dengaroo vs. Whisper/Vessery/Bomber and due to Dengar whiffing on two attacks in the same round against Whisper (rolled 10 blanks including LW re-rolls), and due to 4 consecutive whiffs on R5-P8, it came down to Manaroo and Whisper. Whisper gunned her down... and R5 FINALLY came through with a hit. Time for Final salvo. His 9 dice against my 4. I rolled 4 blanks. This game is very fun, and is well-balanced (for the most part) but I just don't know if I can handle the variance anymore. So much random dice bullshit. I know that over the long haul it will all balance out, but when the dice decide to gently caress you over they gently caress you over HARD and you have to hope that maybe the dice will give you a reach around the next time, but jfc these dice are just too much sometimes. e: If I keep playing this game, I'm going to just fly nothing but swarms because the way final salvo works, I guess that's just what you are supposed to do.
