Back in '08 I thought people like Jennifer Granholm or Brian Schweitzer were great prospects for 2016, so I agree that whoever emerges in 2020 will probably be someone we never heard of; or Abuela will give it another go.

ok but seriously, if we're talking about controversial celebrities with outsized personalities, have we considered bill maher He's def not a progressive hero or whatever but he has a decent shot of beating Trump at his own game IMO zegermans posted:"gently caress the DNC for putting it's thumb om the scales! gently caress Liz Warren for not putting her thumb on the scales!" I personally respect her decision not to choose a side but in what universe does a politician who is not a DNC staffer endorsing a presidential candidate constitute "putting their thumb on the scales"

Lieberman didn't go anywhere in '04, I envision Kaine-mentum going as far in '20. I was half-joking about Hillary '20, but she'll be what, the same age Bernie is now more or less?
