Real hurthling! posted:ok so its not like a take 2 steps, fight a battle, sort of thing but more like you can set it to taste? You can eventually shift the encounter rate around a bit (by the endgame you can instantly summon encounters or prevent them outright), but not immediately. You need to have Digimon of specific evolution levels or types to adjust the encounter rate. I don't recall the encounter rate ever being too high, but it's been a while.

thanks. also lol at asscreed syndicate's reviews. they all say something like "this is the best asscred game in years but the controls are still garbo and there are frequent tailing and escort walking missions despite everyone rating them one star in black flag 3 games ago." think i'll pass even at 14 bucks

Bought Hitman expansion stuff (had the intro already). Is there more to download? Or does it just flip a switch and activate stuff that patches have already downloaded?

Is Psycho Pass any good if that sort of thing interests you? $20 or so is my max for visual novels, because they aren't worth more imo. Also what about fairy fencer f? Do I need to have played the first?

I've got 20 dollars in credit left and want to play an FPS game. I haven't played one in years so there should be a number of offerings. Single player is preferred. What's good?

What's good? oh right, you said GOOD. Well in addition to what's been mentioned you may consider some stuff that isn't quite pure shooter like Farcry 4, Dishonored, or Sniper Elite 3. Doom is probably the most traditional option though. Plus you can go to Snapmap and play some of the worst poo poo made by humans at no extra charge

I still wish Jesper Kyd was on board or that each location had foreign language voice acting (MGSV spoiled me), but everything else about it rules. I turned off Opportunities and the x-ray vision feature right at the start. It's fun figuring out all the different murder possibilities on your own, though I still don't know what the vampire magician outfit in Paris does.

Kin posted:Woop, i picked a great time to pick up a PS4 it seems. They have a lot of pretty good sales. Especially on big releases that have been out for a while and they're just trying to milk more money out of. Infamous, for example, is on sale more often than it's not (and still one of my favourite PS4 games). I think that's the cheapest I've seen it though. Also, as QoP pointed out yesterday, our (EU) Xmas sales are better than our Black Friday sales, so save some money for that. That's when you're most likely to see bigger drops on newer releases. Our digital prices tend to suck though, so you'll often have big discounts, but it'll still cost a lot more than getting a new physical copy off Amazon or something. elf help book posted:I think you shouldn't buy it if they think you're dumb enough to pay extra for that crap. It's pretty drat shady to not advertise that a piece of DLC automatically comes with the base game, only advertising it in the expansion pack or else the "deluxe" edition. Especially when the rest of the expansion pack/deluxe content is otherwise just skins and and premium currency.

Man, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is kind of annoying me right out the gate. So you get two big flashy opening missions and that's cool but the first time I step into the open world and start doing poo poo I end up having to kidnap a guy in the middle of a tiny loving zone with no cover and a half dozen dudes who aggro loving instantly as soon as they see me. In fact, everybody aggros super fast in this game. I get that previous titles were kind of insultingly easy after a time, but I think I preferred that to feeling like attempting stealth is a waste of time. I'm hoping they just ended up throwing a lovely mission in at the start, but all of the controls are different and combat is harder too and I am not sure these are particularly good changes.

8-Bit Scholar posted:Man, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is kind of annoying me right out the gate. You can always just kill basically everyone but your target and/or spook your target and just grab them as they're leaving the zone. When you have the guy just move very slow and the detection zone is pretty manageable.

Any thoughts on if XCOM 2's digital deluxe edition is good/worth it? I would prefer to play the base game alone before appending DLC to it but it's way more expensive to buy separately...

Schach posted:Any thoughts on if XCOM 2's digital deluxe edition is good/worth it? I would prefer to play the base game alone before appending DLC to it but it's way more expensive to buy separately... I didn't realize that the bosses in Alien Hunters were not part of the core game, and I kinda regret the sheer amount of time I had to spend save scumming my way past them, because those dudes were hard as gently caress. Once active, they get to react to every single action one of your guys takes, whether it has anything to do with those bosses or not. They'll pop up in a mission, and then once you run them off they'll show up in later ones, again and again until you can drag them down. I still haven't beaten the Archon variant, he's just so frustrating. Don't think I've installed the Shen's Last Gift one, so maybe I'm screwing myself with subpar tech for the new challenge or something. Bought TF2 today, can't wait to dig into it tonight!
