Afterbirth+ news quote:As most of you know Afterbirth+ is 2 things, its a sizable update with new items, enemies, bosses, challenges and achievements as well as a new playable character, new final chapter and boss/ending (as well as a ton of other stuff i cant remember). Afterbirth + also includes indepth mod tools for the community to run wild with and continue to build onto isaac long after we close the book on it.

I liked original Eve a lot too, but yes she did kind of suck, objectively speaking. Beats the hell out of original Samson, though.

Siiiick. This opens up the opportunity for the console versions to get 'mods' as well, to a degree.

I unlocked keeper last week. The legit hair pulling way. I had an amazing run going with swallowed penny, penny tears, and wooden nickel. I should have been invincible but that slow shot speed gets me everytime. I died to the tiny stupid regular spiders. I underestimated my shot and got a spider in the face. Sigh. At least greed mode was super easy with him.

May not be that much an achievement but accidentally landed Dark Boi last night on a Caine run, woulda almost lost it too, but Holy Mantle saved me from a Red Mom stomp and my knife took care of the rest! Neat little surprise.

Finishing off the lost completion marks. Had a starter deck early on the run. I had previously finished speed to grab the get out of jail free card, just had to hope. Hit an angel room and got half of the key. Wound up with a steam sale and in a moment of inattentiveness picked up little baggy. poo poo. Every time I pulled the active on starter deck I now get a pill. I ruined my run for mega satan. I hit a weirdly long string of great pills. Luck pills started rolling in cascading to 48 hour energy and other good pills. Grabbed a monkey paw to take advantage of devil rooms. I resigned myself to not meeting mega satan. No big deal. Started getting into beast mode with cricket's head, the parasite, a dead cat, and a half dozen other damage/tear modifiers. Catch another starter deck which allows me to grab cards again. Got to the chest, maybe I'll get dad's key, who knows. Wait poo poo, still have monkey's paw. All chests are devil chests. poo poo, again resigned to nothing. Rock through the chest and I have a charged starter deck in the room before facing ???. I catch a get out of jail free card on the active. Holy poo poo. Wreck mega satan and get that sweet sweet completion mark. This game.

There are only three games I (used to) play all the time: Team Fortress 2, Rock Band, and Isaac. Both TF2 and Rock Band got abominable game-killing expansions in 2016, and I really don't need Isaac making it 3/3 of my favorite games dying. Stone Fatties.

Well that was just a random example, but since most fatties are placed in rooms with 1-tile pathways where you're supposed to play off knockback, having one randomly spawn as unkillable doesn't feel incredibly fair.

Isaac was early and released their bad update in 2015. Also I still have my doubts that afterbirth+ really hits in 2016.

No? That can happen but it's not predisposed to happen more frequently. I remember when people whined their asses off about spiders being totally unfair bullshit.

Like Fat Man's quick jump being undodgeable, when it isn't. Or The Haunt being too difficult for a first floor boss. I don't think the game is devoid of problems, but sheesh. Brag-edit: I finally made it to top 100 in Greedbutt! Currently at 99. Does anyone else here play the daily challenges?

Haunt is really soft, the hard part is learning how to consistently hit him. I agree that Rag Man sucks though. His actual behavior is fine, the problem is his spiders have SO MUCH health that he's able to spawn them faster than you can kill them. If his spiders just had less health he'd be less annoying, even if he still had lots of HP himself.

If you shoot the head as it's rolling, you simultaneously deal damage to the uncreated spider and the boss. Even without upgrades it will die the first hit after turning into a full spider.

Rag Man just has too much health, especially if he gets cute with his resurrections. Plus those homing bullets he shoots are a nasty way to punish anyone who gets bored with his giant wall of HP, or anyone who chose a character with low range. Haunt is pretty simple though, I like fighting him. Still, nothing beats pink monstros in a tiny room!

Haunt is an rear end in a top hat with a slow character, not because of himself but because of the stupid ghosts. He also takes forever to kill. They're both pretty poo poo bosses if you consider you can meet them ONE FLOOR IN.

Terrible Opinions posted:what happened to TF2 in 2016? I stopped playing a long rear end time ago. After much anticipation, matchmaking was finally added! ...and at the same time they removed quickplay lobbies completely, so now you have to play three rounds of a single map and then find a new game rather than being able to putz around for as long or short as you like. Not the end of the world for some people, but to people like me, who only really played to drop in/drop out, it pretty much killed the game.

I think it kinda sucks that the boss pool is shrunk so much once you reach the end game (unless my RNG is just super biased) I never see any of the low level, low floor bosses any more like conjoined outside boss rush. It's always Ragman and Haunt or a Horseman, and like someone said before, it's just boring.
|
# ? Nov 27, 2016 20:12 |

It's at least more noticeable since level 3-2 always has Mom and 4-2 always has It Lives. That way you only get one pick out of the pool rather than two like in Basement and Caves.

I got Rebirth free with PS+ a long time ago on my ps4 and its pretty much the only game I got free on there that I play constantly. Last night I actually managed to finish a run for the first time and got Eden. Game is cryptic as gently caress and I don't know how to do most things and have to Google items all the time, but I like it. Anyway, I didn't know there was an expansion! Was totally about to buy Afterbirth but saw you guys talking about Afterbirth+. Is it worth holding fire for now and getting the whole shebang once its out, or shall I get Afterbirth now and this will just build on that. Cheers!

I would stay on rebirth till you've unlocked a bunch of stuff as Afterbirth adds stuff that makes it a bit harder.

Game is cryptic as gently caress and I don't know how to do most things and have to Google items all the time, but I like it. Afterbirth+ will be a seperate expansion, coming to PS4 at some point after the PC release. They said they hope it wont be long after, but they said that about Afterbirth and it was loving ages. So buy afterbirth at some point, and then afterbirth+ down the road when it comes out. As someone else said, afterbirth adds some stuff that makes the game harder (some tough early bosses for example) as well as some fun items (and a few awful items). I'd wait until you have unlocked most* of the characters and/or feel like you can reliably complete the game more often than not without needing to get super lucky. Basically Afterbirth is More Binding of Isaac, but if you have only just finished a run for the first time then you have plenty of binding of isaac on your plate already. *I unlocked The Lost pre-afterbirth and frankly gently caress That Noise. Afterbirth changes his unlock requirements to "Die in a sacrifice room (the grey room with spikes in the middle) holding the missing poster trinket" which is essentially just waiting for those two things to appear in the same run. Much simpler. So dont bother unlocking the lost before getting afterbirth. Edit to add: also dont feel bad about googling the items. I got every trophy in the base game (and all but one in afterbirth) and I still use the wiki to remind myself what certain items do, and what 2 or 3 pip dice rooms do. For some reason what the mitre and the celtic cross do wont stick in my head. For a long time I had the "cards" page bookmarked because I kept getting them confused, but they sunk in eventually SiKboy fucked around with this message at 18:37 on Nov 29, 2016 |
