Honestly, I hate the Gators, but if FSU/UF stopped happening as the last game of the season every year, it might legit kill half or more of my interest in college football.

If you can get A&M and Arkansas on board, and include both Oklahoma schools, that might be the ideal conference.

OSU Co-DC Fickell is being rumored for the FAU head coach job, there is a relationship with the AD there. If he goes and Schiano finds a HC job, could leave OSU looking for a DC and Urbz may call up his old friend Charlie Strong.

I'm not the one who is messed up here. They're going to keep score in life. It's O.K. I've failed hundreds of thousands of times. I probably failed 100 times today. But winning is not supposed to matter to me? I don't know if I'll ever be able to grasp that. Forget the awards. You should want to be the best at whatever your chosen field is. I want my kids to win. Winners get the corner office, the big house, the hot wife, the whole nine. I said that at commencement. Then I said that the people who don't win, they get cubicles, the hoopty ride, the not-so-hot wife.

Yeah that AD is Pat Chun, he was a long time associate AD at Ohio State. He's quietly done a really good job at FAU in the overall picture.

I wonder if anybody is gonna give Broderick Fobbs a look. He took over Grambling State after their DISASTER of a 1-10 2013 season (notable for Doug Williams being bought out of his head coaching contract two games into the season and the first interim coach being fired after going 0-5, in addition to the team refusing to play a game against Jackson State due to the state of the facilities and equipment) and immediately turned in a 7-5, 9-3 and now 10-1 seasons, with the Celebration Bowl still upcoming.

I'm really curious what Oregon is going to do. They need to have fired Helfrich yesterday tbh, what is actually being accomplished by the delay is anyone's guess. Oregon recruits (insofar as we have any) are talking about decommitting and the attitude among boosters is toxic. Consensus is that Helfrich should go, though there are a lot of other people in the coaching staff who are perceived as subpar. AD Mullen is already in the hot seat for his inaction (which is apparently because he's been out of town for a BCS committee meeting, which is a personal responsibility, not part of his job as Oregon AD).

Basically there's going to be hell to pay if a decision RE Helfrich isn't announced in the next 24-48 hours. IMO they should have Kiffined him and Brady Hoke at Reser stadium in Corvallis.

He has.

The weird "small" (as far as football goes) schools in Florida can all get a little better, just by hitting on some of the three stars that might wanna stay in-state and play, maybe with the rare four everybody else missed on.

The noise around Tress has actually been pretty much non-existent. He took the show-cause in stride and seems to be pretty content as YSU's president. Obviously not a bad gig by any means but he's shown zero interest in doing anything outside of it.

It was one of those death by a thousand cuts things. They kept finding more and more poo poo as they dug into the program, and Gene Smith and then-president Gordon Gee handled it all in the most ham-handed way possible.

Was it known beforehand that he was dirty all the way back at Youngstown State or did that come out after the Ohio State stuff too?

The smoking gun for Tressel was him signing a form saying saying he didn't know of any violations and then evidence emerging that he clearly did. Its the NCAA equivalent of perjury or falsifying an affadavit.

DJExile

Yeah there's basically never an easy way for a head coach to leave if he's going somewhere bigger. The bigger school largely never gives a poo poo if the previous team is in a bowl game or conference championship or anything, they want the guy on campus getting to work ASAP. It blows that this always happens right at the end of what's typically a great season for the smaller team, but unfortunately that's just the way it is. Even if you enforced a sort of hiring freeze, people would know when a coach was moving on somewhere else after the year and then you're just going to get a lot of awkwardness at the bowl game when the coaches likely already have their mind on the next job.

When's the last time a P5 school got its head coach hired away? Was it when Tuberville left Tech? There's always so much talk of "x" P5 coach being a candidate for a bigger P5 job, but it seems like in recent history it practically never happens. I guess Cincy was technically in a BCS conference when Brian Kelly left.
