So is there anything stopping Obama from making a nationally televised speech on what the Republicans are doing and describing in detail exactly all the bad things that are going to happen as a result? Because it'll be nice to have that for posterity when all those bad things happen over the next couple years.

Obama wouldn't do that, he's a selfless person that wants to do what he can to help Trump not fail as President because that would mean the country fails.

Although he should probably reconsider...

Perhaps some large organization that takes in funding from diverse sources and can provide insurance without the need for profit forcing them to nickel and dime the people they insure. If only such an organization existed.

Here is what Price last proposed if you want some light reading

This is worse than described.

It is the first step towards Medicare privatization as well.

Reinstates Caps on coverage

quote:

Sec. 131. Limitation on Employer-Provided Health Care Coverage
Allows for the employer exclusion of health care coverage up to $20,000 for a family and $8,000 for
an individual, with any additional funds used to be taxable dollars2

Pre-existing coverage is removed. A small grace period for any employer who stops providing insurance and switches people to the exchanges.

quote:

Those moving to the individual market will not experience limitations on pre-existing conditions.

It is the only mention, so that drops the regulation meaning pre-existing coverage is hosed.

No mention of life time caps. So those are back in.

No mention of protection from being dropped when covered.

Google "Central State Pension Cuts".

How much you want to count on the benevolence and good management of a company over 40 years for your retirement?

gently caress pensions. At least with a 401(k) I'm the only guy who can gently caress it up.

You'd be better off just purchasing property taxes in property tax sales than putting it in a 401k. You may even be able to get a house out of it.

If there is a Civil War, and it ain't likely, it won't be 1861 Style. It will be 2006 Iraq style. Repeated and sustained sectarian killing with out clear battle lines.

Guys, I had a thought:

We're in a post-fact society now, which means that people don't care about facts. Since people don't care about facts, the only thing they care about what 'team' (READ: party) they belong to. So, if people only care about what team they belong to and not about the facts, then what's stopping Democrats from just running as Republicans? It's not like anyone would ever know or care. It worked for Trump.

Facts don't matter as much as perception, so even if they're not-lovely they'd have to find a way to market themselves as less lovely than their competitors and do so with smaller profit margins per customer.

Wonderful.

At this point, I'm wondering if the GOP are just banking on Trump managing to kill people so quickly that there will be no one left to see how badly their incoherent plans have screwed the world over by the time their impacts come in full. Utterly destroying the country/world does seem to be their main goal these days.

Trump voters are at suicide cult levels of willful delusion now. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, they will follow their Great Orange Hope into the maw of Hell so long as they can hold onto their preferred narrative on how the world must work while spiting someone else for all their problems.
